Al sadd was worse than PP to be honest, very weak team, conceding chances left znd right and scoring a tokhmi goal. Not sure it was a corner btw.

Damn, so many waste of scoring chances. And this Alipour, I think he commited more offencive fauls than the whole PP defence together.

Masharipov on esteghlal trying to earn big money transfer out of Iran lol. The guy only looks to shoot.

This new SS coach has Jalali and Ramin playing wingbacks, its interesting to see

0-0 at HT. MehrMo went down with an injury in the first few minutes. Esteghlal held up well until the last few minutes of the half where Al Nassr looked bound to score. Koushki who came on for MehrMo is only 24 and looks pretty agile. Nothing offensively tho as only a few ‘hero ball’ shots were taken by Masharipov. Only bright spot is the 5-3-2 formation with the wingbacks. But I think Ronaldo will either score or assist since Esteghlals fat bald CB is marking him.

Esteghlal 0 - Al Nasr 1 (Full Time)

We get scoring chances but we really suck at scoring. it's like as soon as we get a chance, we go to hibernation and start thinking about our personal problems. This is the big difference between a pro football player and an amateur one, because we almost never shoot the ball immediately and instead of thinking about it before the ball reaches us we forget to shoot the damn ball.

Our problem has always been the one touch football because we always need time to think about what to do.

Sometimes you wonder how these players became professional with how much they struggle to make passes/basic runs. That one 19 year old Brazilian kid named Wesley that got subbed in instantly showed how much higher his level was than the whole SS team with how he kept dribbling past through their defense like butter

This way no Iranian team will ever reach any semi final for another decade! Let alone the title!

These things are taught at the academy level.

Once players form their fundamentals around teenage years they will not develop them further. Players can change their game as they get older/faster/slower but fundamentals do not change unless with drastic coaching.

We don't have a drastic coach. Sir Alex, Pep, Mourinho are probably best known drastic coaches.

CQ was closest thing we had to someone who can train players into a system.

Any Iranian running at opposition box starts thinking about their life issues, Khiabani/Azizi analysis postgame, which mall to go after etc. Things sports psychologists are there to fix

                                I disagree with this bit.
Are your childhood and teenage years important for development of the fine motor skills and in-game awareness that we usually lump under the guise of 'technique'? Absolutely. But, you still can form pathways in your cerebellum that fine tune your game well into your 20's and 30's. We see this all the time in other sports for instance. A classic example is the NBA. How often do you hear about a player practicing his 3 pointer over the summer, and coming back the next year with a better all-round game? Similarly, a footballer can always improve specific aspects to their game like weight of pass, first touch, pitch awareness. I think the problem in our football is we have the psychological pressure of high level teams, a toxic media culture, under-qualified coaches, and as a result we get clubs who do not put a great emphasis on engaging in younger players and do not have the patience to coach them and develop them. Older players similarly do not have a growth mentality and become fixated on results oriented behaviors when in reality they don't realize that they still have potential.
