Great game from mehdi. Couple occasions early where he could have gone for goal but laying it off was ok decision as well. Excellent in defensive phase and his link up play was very strong.

those that keep saying he needs to score in next game or he’s done at inter clearly don’t know Inzaghi. Keeping mehdi in for full 90 in one of the biggest games of the season is a testament to the faith he has in him, preferring to sub thuram who before last night was in red hot form for club and country.

Goals will come, natural for forward in this system supported by good players. Taremi hasn’t even really had that many clear looks at goal in the games he has played, definitely no notable ones last night. More important is adapting to the demands of a new system, and he has clearly done that very well. He is in great physical condition as usual.

overall inter showed why they should be in the conversation as contenders for CL this season. Very tactically impressive display, besides a couple giveaways in the build up phase which they recovered quite well, they largely nullified city while also playing through their press to great effect quite often. That darmian chance should have been a goal, as should mkhis. Fair result in the end.

Looking at the photo, first thing after seeing Taremi was how small Sommer is for a GK. Checked it out and he is only 6ft.

you can't do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth

I was at the game and he played a very good match. I was with the City fans and even they were impressed. Going to the Milan derby as well. Will share photos.

For the record and some facts:
                  1. City have never lost a point in UCL opening game at home.
                  2. Since Pep joined 2016, this is the second goalless UCL game in 42 at home.
                  3. After Monaco in 2017, this is the first time City consider 10 shoots on target in the first half of the game

I had a hard time finding that play too, but here it is at 5:10 of this video:

I think his passing was excellent tonight, his only miscues were late late in the game when he clearly was gassed after all of that pressing and transition running.
I think the one chance he should've done better, was this one:
                        https://v.redd.it/5uar6ijyhmpd1
Partly this is Thuram's fault, who should've made a diagonal run behind Akanji instead of sitting wide and effectively taking himself out of the play. However, Taremi could have made a more aggressive run A) before the pass, could have made a harder sprint aiming to break behind Akanji and B) after the pass, challenged Akanji onto his left foot and gone for goal. Instead he made a soft pass that was behind Thuram a bit and allowed City's defense to catch up again.

They play Milan on Sunday (Derby Della Madonina). Given he just played an excruciating 90 min against City, my guess is he won't start. But Latauro looks off so who knows.

They don't play in CL again until Oct 1.
