He needs something to wake him up a bit. Even in his MOTM super Cup performance, he was wasteful at times.

    Btw...

Is Mehdi Taremi the best striker Iran has ever produced? Yes

Is he a world class player like Son, Thuram or Martinez? No

There's nothing wrong with being a bench player in one of the largest clubs in the world.

I asked for jokes and I got them. Iranians truly most hospitable people.

No he is not the best striker we ever had!!
He is probably 3rd in list behind Daei and Azmoun!
even though is very hard to compare 70, 80 s players with the rest..

I wasn't a big fan of the guy when he was in PP. Even my signature on this website for a while compared him to a sack of potatoes.

But from 2019 until now he has performed better than any Iranian player ever in European football.
Daei and Azmoun might be better pure finishers and padded their numbers against carpet merchants and Potato farmers, but Mehdi is undoubtedly the GOAT of Iranian football.

He has never been a pure striker. Being a poacher is not what he is known for. Not sure why people thought he would fit that part. Inzaghi should stop playing like a scared little shit and allow Mehdi to play behind Lautaro and Thuram. They would cook the leagues D lines.

I followed his games a ton. No doubt he has a very impressive highlight reel. But he has never been easy on the eye, and I sincerely hope our football produces someone much better one day because if you tell an Inter fan right now that Mehdi is the best that Iran has produced they will vomit

That would be a strong offensive formation and would be interesting to see that in action, I bet they would produce a lot more goals that way. He'd have to change his default 3-5-2 to like a 3-4-1-2 probably taking Mikhitaryan out of the starting line up and keeping Demarco - Calhanoglu - Barella and Dumfries in the midfield and Taremi in front of them as a CAM behind Thuram and Martinez.

Only issue I see with that is load management given the amount of games they have to play with little breaks in between right now

I guess we shall agree to disagree on that. And you are right that there is nothing wrong with being a backup player for a great team but you have to do that right too. Nothing wrong with being a chicharito or solskjaer but taremi is missing chances you’d expect the right back to score. He needs 80-90 min consistently to have an impact and he won’t find it at inter.

It is sad how you guys rip him like this. We are not England. He's still the best we got.

Taremi is our best legionnaire ever. Followed by Mahdavikia.

And Taremi has never been a finisher. Since day 1 at Persepolis he was that way.

My reflex was to get disappointed with him too. Those were 2 golden chances that were not finished. However, Lautaro and Thuram often play a full game and miss a ton of clear chances as well. Lautaro had a dry spell for 8-9 games I think. However, they didn't get this type of reception. We have to be fair here. He had a great game against Milan and could have scored 2 goals that game. Judging him as poor because of one game, where he actually did OK is not fair. He is already facing criticism from Inter fans- let's be supportive and give him a shot (not bash him and pile on).

Our best legionnaire who choked in almost every big game he played for TM… who flopped hard in the big boys’ league…

You say he was never a finisher like its an honor or achievement. But really you’re saying in 10 years he hasn’t improved. He’s not a defender. For striker this isn’t excuse, but rather a weakness that’s being exposed again on a big stage.

Reminds me of Jackson Martinez. 30+ goalscorer in Porto but looked like scared little boy in Atletico and ran away to China halfway through first season.

Absolutely NOT. Hassan Roshan is by far the best and most talented striker Iran has ever produced. If you only saw him play in he early to late 1970's.

After a day has passed, I've had time to collect my thoughts and think about life.

                                Was this miss bad? Yes.

Has Mehdi had bad misses like this before? Yes.

Will he have more bad misses? Yes.

                                Is the season over? NO!

Mehdi can't get down on himself. There is half the season left to play. He has to train hard, stay focused, and be confident. He still will get plenty of chances. Last week, he was the hero after the Milan performance, now, he's a villain. Fans are fickle and will change their opinion in a heartbeat.

He will get his chances, still....he just needs to capitalize.
