Everyone needs to go watch Gol Bezans new podcast from minute 35 to 48. Benjamin did an amazing job analyzing TM tactics (or lack thereof) with pictures.

TLDR: In defense we often play into opponents press instead of creating space and that's why we always look so chaotic and haphazard. GNs instructions are mostly to just cross the ball and inshallah. Several moments we have players who don't know what to do and unsure of their role, which causes miscommunication (mostly between Ezatollahi, Noorafkan, and Taremi when it comes to defending).

In national team level, I don't think that we ever considered Uzbekistan as the elite of Asian football. Iran is a powerhouse and stronger than Uzbekistan. Our goal is simple - to qualify to the WC, for this you have to beat teams stronger than you.
