I'm in favor of playing Milad at RB for the next match. We have plenty of options at LB. Yousefi is not ready to be assigned the Afif duty. Milad will lock his ass down!

So bummed out about the penalty :/ I was so ecstatic when the ref pointed to the spot right away. I hypothesize he thinks the ball hit gholi hand first, not that the uzbek defender arm was in natural position

Why aria didn't come in after hardani red?

Intrigued to see who’ll replace Ghoddos against Qatar. Hoping he abandons the 4-4-2 and gives Hosseinnejad a go as the 10. I’d like to see his link up play with Ghaedi coming off the left flank.

So the IRIB commentators said that the ball might have hit Gholi’s hand before hitting the Uzbek defender.

Its really hard to tell if it hit Gholi’s hand or not. In cases where it’s hard to tell, the ref should have ruled for the penalty.

    Another injustice against US.

“” these Australian referees””, , the red was a red , and no matter who was the referee ,,….

clearly showed Hardani is not playing well , and also some of these players are not familiar with VAR….

the penalty , it seemed legit to me no idea why he called if off…

    but regardless..

GN has no idea what he is doing , even if you give this guy 10 friendly games and 2 month training camp , he can’t do better than this ,

Team Melli rate limit step is GN , he is the weakest link , no matter what is going on , the coach sucks …

he can’t bench a players like Sardar , who shouldn’t even be in the team …

we 3 played World Cup qualifiers already what has Sardar

krygzystan, UAE , Uzbekistan,,, what has he even done ?!?!?! Not even 1 shot on net ..

the guys that wants to play “noke hamle “ has to the fittest , fastest, sharpest , most ready player on the whole team …

Sardar is 20 pounds over weight , he was tired after 20 minutes…. Why ?!?

TM played much better with 10 men, not sure if this was a psychological factor or the subs GN made. It seemed like TM had more conviction to win the game after being one man down, especially in the extra time and after the PK being denied.

Ghaedi surely deserves to be in the starting lineup, and Sardar needs to be benched. I think Gholizadeh and Ghaedi changed the flow of the game for the better.

Milad IMHO was another decent player, his contribution to defense and offense was quite fun to watch.

Uzbekistan Unlike what we had pictured them prior to the match did not seem to be as formidable opponents as we thought them to be.

That was a clear Penalty, not sure what made the VAR team to ask the ref to check the scene, and surprisingly call it off. Reminded me of the 2015 Ben William's decision to red card Pooladi against Iraq which cost us the game and elimination from AC.

    Some notes

    1. this was technically the hardest game in the group for us
    2. We played well when we went down to 10 men
    3. we got robbed of a penalty
    4. GN got the lineup wrong, and continues to get it wrong as long as he plays 2 striker system

It’s so funny to me that ghalenoi had taremi suspended and forced to play 1 striker vs Japan, and won 2-1. And since then he just avoids 1 striker system. It wasn’t luck, it was the extra midfielder. Against Palestine and Hong Kong, go ahead and play 2 strikers. Against anyone else, PLEASE PLAY 1 STRIKER, 2 WING, 3 MIDFIELD

How are the uzbeks the 2nd best team in this group, they are terrible, even with a man up they couldn't do much. Last 10-15 mins iran dominated them even when iran played crap.

Very solid performance defensively against a poor Uzbekistan side but should really have come away with all 3. Dominated possession and totally shut down their star man Shomurodov. We still looked the more likely to score even with 10 but I feel we gave them too much respect and could have committed more in first 60mins.

GN’s 4-4-2 with Mohebbi and JB on the flanks just doesn’t work going forward - there’s no creativity from either of them nor overloads and link up play with Hardani or Mohammadi. Everything becomes reliant on Ghoddos or Ezza playing through passes to break the lines with little angle because of our narrow 4-4-2.

Defence was solid: excellent debut from Nemati and Mohammadi was very good. Ghoddos was superb but Azmoun and Taremi were both off it. Azmoun looks overweight and out of shape and Taremi, as he did in the AC looks complacent, like he thinks he’s better than this level. Holds on the ball for too long and looks sluggish almost through an arrogance to try and slow it down and then beat one player too many.

Ghaedi was good again, gave us so much more balance and creativity going forward. Gholizadeh and Noorafkan also did well and looked lively when they came on.
