Just stick to the current crap and save yourself all these hypotatical conversations.

      GN is all you get.
That's more of a gamesmanship...the clubs want to diffuse home field advantage.

There are 48 foreign players in Iran, and 2 (soon to be 3 with Esteghlal) foreign coaches.

So clearly getting foreign coaches is not a pipe dream, particularly for the most prestigious and lucrative position of national team head coach.

Dollars (foreign currency) has been a big problem for TM over the past decade because of the sanctions. We all know this.

Over the past 2 years....ever since Iran became Putin's lifeline, however, dollars are flowing once again.

I am surprised the match isn't cancelled due to the current political climate.

The Arabs that control AFC , they used their connections , to tell these smaller countries like Indian not to go to Iran , you saw the Uzbekistan club team went to Iran but the Indian club team refused ?!?!?

Look whatever the political climate, it won’t affect the football stadium or pitch’s …..

it just another excuses , Iraq is way more unsafe than Iran , but they hosting games.

THIS MEANS WE DONT CARE TO FINISH 1ST IN THE GROUP AND WE GOING NOT TO LOSE.

taking biravand to news conference is like taking 80 years old dude on 4 viagra to strip club.with either one don't know what kind ending it will be.

The transcript I read he only said “we are looking to qualify for the World Cup”. Nothing about becoming champions.

That was funny and horrifying at the same time. Given IR's accuracy, I am surprised none of them fell in the pitch... remember the first missile attack back in April 2024, I believe couple of missiles fell in Shiraz damaging properties.

                          That April attack was comedy.
They just sent everything they didn't want keep anymore.
The last one was horrifying accurate, BUT ONE FELL in zanjan😅.

Indians still mad and shock at persians for what Nader Shah did to them, of course they canceled their trip.

Ok sat down and watched Qatar-Kyrgyzstan and believe it or not, I rewatched our semifinal game vs Qatar painfully. Some analysis below.

This game will have Team Melli face a lot of our ghosts in playing this team that prevented us from reaching our first Asian cup final in 48 yrs. The Qataris will favor themselves to have a slight mental advantage despite them being behind us on points. They will be highly motivated to try and win because they know they have a rough patch of games. They play us, then Uzbekistan at home, then UAE in Dubai. Winning this game could erase their loss to UAE.

                              Formation:

Against us in the Asian Cup they played more conservatively than they did against Kyrgyzstan. They fielded a 4-4-2 against us with plans to fill the midfield, overpower our slower midfield and then break to get the ball to Akram Afif and Almoez Ali. They had 3 mobile defenders who did the defensive work once that midfield was passed.

Against Kyrgyszstan they played 4-2-3-1. Due to some injuries/retirement, Qatar's list is different now compared to the Asian cup.

                              Strategy:

As part of this changed Qatar squad, they had to replace their ball retention ability after Hassan Al Haydos retired. As suspected, Kyrgyzstan was quite poor vs Qatar where they had to play on a good field where bad bounces could not reduce the gap of quality between the teams. Qatar had a majority of possession so if our geniuses at Team Melli analyze the game they can make out the attacking strategy.

Offensively--> Qatar has naturalized a new player, a Brazilian born in the "Qatari" city of Liege, Belgium with a very Arab name of Edmilson Junior who plays for Al Duhail. He has played in the Belgian ProLeague for Sint Truiden and Standard Liege. He was operating on the left wing has decent technical ability and looks to cross.

Due to Pedro Miguels injury in the ACL game vs Esteghlal, they have recalled Abdelkarim Hassan as LB. We have played him many times, I think Jahanbakhsh has prob started against him 10+ times on that side in his career. Abdelkarim Hassan does a lot of offensive work for an LB. Qatar constantly switched the play to him on the left, he played very advanced for a LB. I would compared him to a left sided Ramin Rezaian in how he was playing. Qatar would get the ball to him to start most attacks. He would either give an overlapping ball or go for a shot. He also takes long shots freely. He had full license to do what he wanted as an attacking leftback.

Once they get the ball to Akram Afif he is tasked with being the creative outlet to create chances. On the end of those most often is Almoez Ali who is their finisher.

Defensively--> They didn't have to do much defending against Kyrgyzstan but they did have another naturalized player in Lucas Mendes and their own Boualem Khoukhi be the Centerbacks. Of note one of their defenders, Tarek Salman, was suspended due to accumulation of yellow cards. When we played them, Qatar tried to press us out because they knew we tend to buckle under quick pressure and play a slow game. Against Kyrgyzstan, they tried a similar approach and at times had trouble because of Joel Kojo's speed once he got the ball.

                              Key players:

                              1) Akram Afif--> He is their creative outlet. If we are going to stop Qatar from scoring, we need to shut him down. He is a CAM that can play on either side of the wings. He is allowed free roam, has a decent freekick, good long shots and great pass range for Asian football.

                              2) Almoez Ali--> He is their clinical finisher, he has speed, very good dribbling/ reaction speed and finishing. I'm very worried about him in 1v1 situations against our slow team. Defending as a unit will be better and more importantly, preventing him getting the ball at all will be the best approach

                              3) Abdelkarim Hassan--> as discussed above he is their LB who is able to wander up and join their attack. He tried a lot of long shots against Kyrgyszstan. They start most attacks by switching the play to him. He is their primary crosser also

                              Keys to win for Iran

                              1) FIX OUR MENTAL GAME--- they beat us in the Semifinal. Ok. Time to get revenge. Not by doing stupid tackles to hurt them but by beating them clean in a neutral ground. If we beat them we can cause them despair by sending them off to play Uzbek and UAE next. Get the mental game down.

                              2) Watch for Qatar's tricks--> Qatar's team got lucky on a couple goals last game. One of which half the Kyrgyzstan team stopped playing because a second ball was on the field, but Qatar kept playing and scored. PLEASE play to the whistle, DO NOT complain to the referee and pick up yellows. I saw their new Brazilian player Edmilson already dives a lot to pick up fouls. Afif is the same way. Do not give them any excuses for penalties or freekicks outside the box.

                              3) Beat the press and smash them--> Qatar relies on winning the press the first time. A couple times when Kyrgyzstan beat the press, Joel Kojo went up against Boualem Khoukhi and he was very uncomfortable. Khoukhi is slow so if we can get positions to bypass him with a pass or take him on it we can get into good positions. Also, Abdelkarim Hassan pushes up a lot. If we get the ball back we have an opportunity to catch him out the same way Rezaian gets caught out.

                              4) Get some legs in the midfield--> We don't have Ghoddos for this game. We need 1-2 players who can run to challenge Qatar in the middle. Especially those with the passing range needed to get the ball to our forwards/wingers.

Best of luck everyone. Hoping we get a win and put some distance between us and Qatar

If Iran does not qualify out of 8 teams from Asia, then we should just go home now. This edition of the WC is a tournament for children so let's not give it much importance or hype.
