Argentina, Brazil, Italy would not beat us the way England, Germany, France would.

We can beat Japan especially at this age group with solid defensive plan to close off space in the middle and push them to the wings.

On wings we have good defensive coverage and Japan will be forced to cross and have little set piece threat.

Then when we get possession from them break their counterpress and attack and score or get fouls outside the box.

Team like Getafe beats Barcelona we can beat Japan
I actually disagree, we need to go all out on the attack. Against Brazil this team only won when they started relentlessly attacking into wide spaces nonstop. One thing I realized watching Japan is that they are the strongest from the wings. Their midfield is actually not very productive. IMO its gonna come down us abusing our size and height advantage in the middle. Most of our kids fall within the 5'11 to 6'4 range. Abdi is smart for practicing set pieces so much because that's exactly how you beat Japan.

Your strategy isnt mutually exclusive to mine, its about defending aggressively, winning the ball back, keeping it away from Japan and attacking before they can organize. We can spam our physicality advantage like this and if we dont score at least pick up set pieces to cause more damage.

With smaller technical teams the key is to make them uncomfortable and not allow them to have a tempo.

Very true. I think this team will also come for revenge since they lost to them at U17 level. I remembered that Esmaeil Gholizadeh was also the one that scared the third goal against Brazil. His name keeps popping off, hope he goes straight to Europe. CAM too which is a position we are sorely lacking in.

TM has an extra day of rest vs Japan…for what it’s worth

Missed it but apparently Gholizadeh has highest goals, highest assists, and highest G/A of everyone in the tournament. Then the next Iranian is Zamani for goals, and Andarz for assists
