One thing I realized watching Japan is that they are the strongest from the wings. Their midfield is actually not very productive. IMO its gonna come down us abusing our size and height advantage in the middle. Most of our kids fall within the 5'11 to 6'4 range. Abdi is smart for practicing set pieces so much because that's exactly how you beat Japan.
With smaller technical teams the key is to make them uncomfortable and not allow them to have a tempo.

Your strategy isnt mutually exclusive to mine, its about defending aggressively, winning the ball back, keeping it away from Japan and attacking before they can organize. We can spam our physicality advantage like this and if we dont score at least pick up set pieces to cause more damage.
