Japan works hard and plays a solid football. We don't so lets not expect anything before we get to the real issues as this will continue as long as the IR is at the helm of our country.
believe it or not Hussein Abdi has a UEFA A badge for coaching. He’s seen the world, has played football at a decent levels and even speaks decent English. He actually likes youth football and is coaching for minimal money while much worse coaches make 10x in the league.
The real reason we lose:
1 - we don’t have factory style production. What I mean is Japan has a system where even if they don’t have the best players in terms of talent, they will all have a fundamental set of skills and discipline that will take them far.
2 - lack of accountability. We as Iranians don’t take accountability for things when we’re in process. Doesn’t matter what area of life, politics, age, religion…, we only apologize at the end. We need to work hard every day.
having said all that we still only lost on penalties. Abdi should be promoted to u23 coach. We have very good players who if they have proper advice and ambition can start in Lower leagues in Europe.

What I mean is that we struggle to play with composure. Our players operate under extreme stress, both in possession during buildup and, especially, out of possession in our own half.
The reason is a combination of poor coaching and poor pitch conditions that allow this style of play to persist.
For example, we struggle to close down ball carriers properly and guide them away from goal. Instead, we always try to win the ball outright, which leads to unnecessary fouls and makes us easy to dribble past and play through. Our players overcommit because they always go for the ball instead of blocking passing lanes and protecting space.
We even had a sequence where we attempted four tackles inside our own penalty area.
That being said, I thought Nima Andarz and Yusuf Mazrae were very positive today.

We can be mad at AFC draw, bad luck..
Honestly participating to U20 at any cost was the only small hope for our football, without even guaranteeing anything. Now our football is off for at least the next 5 years. Now the hidden talents have absolutely 0 chance to go to Europe. And only Europe can develop players whether they are iranian or Japanese. I even expect Andarz and Taheri to come back soon to middle east.
U17 TM have a good draw but they are very bad atm. And with an extended u17 wc, they won't get noticed between 48 teams anyways.
Our league and club are doing quite bad at asian level. We are losing ACL spots very fast. 50 years old like Alishah or Alekasir are overused again and again instead of new players.
Our TM is held hostage by GN and players like Beiro kanaani shoja Noorafkan niazmand or moghanlou. I don't know if it is a good thing if we qualify for wc26 if the project is to bring them. 48 teams wc is a joke anyways but it could be a spectacular fiasco the way we are heading to.
Taremi at Inter is almost the last link to high level football we have. Even if it isn' t a big success, he was right to try the challenge (1 or 2 years too late) instead of staying to Porto which is in shamble and play small teams. Staying too long to crappy asian league or 2nd rate european football was always our cancer
The rest of our of legionnaires' project is a mass exodus to UAE. I think it is what will kill our football for good. IFF allowing our players to go there over Persian gulf name and a big prospect like Ghaedi going/promoting there was a deadly mistake. No problem to have our non TM material players or over 32 there. But our star legionnaires and now young prospects is just catastrophic. I don't think UAE will teach Ghandipour to fix his behavior pb (celebration against Japan, recent red card in the league..).
During that time, countries like Uzbekistan Egypt Georgia are progressing in the right direction and send players in top leagues. It is funny how Russia league works for them to reach big clubs. Our players are sent to Uzbekistan and Croatian 2nd division..
Beyond our football results, it is a true shame we produce so few top players and have so many generational hole. All these in a sport with a huge passion, interest, time money and energy invested in. We better let football and reproduce volleyball, taekwondo karate miracles in others sports
