People can s**t on Sardar and Mehdi all they want, but the only reason we are at the top of the table is their individual brilliance at key moments. Nothing else. The future is absolutely bleak, but the rush to get these guys out the door is totally wrong. We cannot start a transition without a real coach.
this team is being run by Taremi , just like how Daei was telling Branko what to do !!
He decides who plays he decides who comes in , GN is just a body , GN is not even qualified to coach a 3rd division team in Iran , let alone Esteghlal or even TM , he does what he is told β¦..
look how he acted to Mohebi last game and go look what Mohebi say in the interview after the game , we need great players like Taremi and JB in the team Melli !!!?!?
We need the IFF , Taj is the only person that can change this situation, he needs to step in a , remember when Taremi removed Skocic ,
taremi knows it cause of his age but also where he plays , trust me Taremi is one injury away or 2 bad games away from not playing a single minute the whole season at inter and being a permanent bench player.
Taremi , know Mohebi , ghaydei , hosseinajad Saharkhizan are all younger and better goal scorer now ,,,, and if all these 4 players just even play 45 minutes 1 half together on the pitch , instead of him , Taremi time in TM will be over right there
Sardar still has gheyrat , he just overweight, if he loses the weight he will be back β¦
what are we scared off sometimes you need to take a risk lose a game to get better ..
ppl need to stop saying he plays at inter , yea he plays a stupid role at inter , he is not scoring or even getting assists, they use him as a defensive midfielder there ,
so does mikhtaryan but he retired from Armenian to give younger players a chance β¦
what are we scared off , so Indonesian lose with a bunch of 20 years olds against Japan , but today those same 20 year olds , actually exactly 20 years old score 2 goals against Saudi Arabia , now that is valuable experience right there
the more you struggle in World Cup qualifying, the better you be in the World Cup cause it helps you identify weakness ,
but for us we already struggling and we arenβt even play younger players at all
Who cares about CQ? I'm talking about GN. What's his excuse for conceding 15 goals in the last 16 games?
Nobody has said anything about wanting to get CQ back bro.
And it's not that deep, these same players beat Wales, Uruguay, Senegal (tied), and Japan in the last two years so we know they are capable if managed by a competent staff and coach who can actually have tactics and motivate them.
It is actually that deep tho! You missed the point I was trying to make again. We always default to blaming the coach and the go-to solution is to fire so and so and bring someone else. When did I say bring CQ back? I am just making the point that we need to learn from history. That even with a coach like CQ we didn't get far and he had plenty of chances. And he was smart enough to understand Iran's political environment and culture, and got paid when he really didn't have better offers from anywhere else. No other world class foreign coach is willing to step foot in Iran and work thru all that the way he did, and other Iranian coaches who are deserving of the job don't brown nose the regime like GN to get the job.
My point is that even if we managed to replace GN with someone better, it still doesn't make us France or Germany all of a sudden. We're still not advancing past the group stage in the world cup until we can take politics out of our football and develop our youth programs and focus on developing players from childhood to have a real path for them throughout school like the rest of the developed world, it'd be more of the same with Mr. X or Y at the Helm. We have the talent, footballing IQ, and passion to compete with the best in the world.
The teams you mentioned were either friendlies, a team in Asia (which we've historically competed against Japan or SK no matter who the coaches or players were) and 2nd/3rd tier european team in the world cup which we beat on a 90th min goal. So all bad examples of real success.
I've seen this movie play out plenty of times with different coaches and players! Year after year, you guys keep zooming in on the little stuff while the big picture is the only thing that really matters!
UAE demolished Qatar 5-0 so QN won't be able to brag about the win vs Qatar. Even UAE did and in a much better way. But not he has instead something else that he would come up with, that KSA lost to Indonesia and he would say, there are no easy teams, even KSA with so much money lost at home and we are on top of the table bla bla bla. God I really cant stand this guy. For those of you who did not watch the press conference yesterady, please do. Once again he brought up his time back in 2007!!! They also asked him about his game plan and also if they knew about the nr7 in Kyrgyzstan and he said " we know he has quality and how to handle him lol. They guy scored both goals. What a way to handle him.

Taremi/Azmoun carrying Tm has absolutely not been the case. Imo more poor games than good this year. Lets count how many points have ghaedi or mohebi name on them.
thats pretty rich coming from that underachieving wanker ..!
more than twice afforded the footballing lifetime chance of playing for a famous EU club and all 2-3 times showing up to their training camp Late and grossly overweight and pretending to be injured..!! π

Sardar is 2nd most goal scorer in tm history.
Scored 3 goals last 2 matches.
He hasn't been all in for his clubs but always come for tm despite having enemies inside for being a iranian sunni, let's not forget He was bashed for that even some inside asked to not call him due to being sunni....that mentally have effect on player.

Adding to this post... I wanted to see who has the scored the most 'important goals' for Tm in qualification this year (10 total). Scoring in 5-0 win or 98th min when game is done doesn't count for me. If you take out penalties, Taremi has just 3 but also 6 assist and plays deeper. I think both Ghaedi and Mohebbi have given us a solid output. Azmoun is the only one in front of goal all game and I'm often left wondering what he was doing after 70-80 minutes. 5 out of 9 games without goal or assist. And from those 5 games, 2 finished 0-0 and Ghaedi was 1-0 winner in 2 others. Where is our number 9? (Almoez in the same group, but weaker overall team behind him has better stats, what else to say?)
Taremi (5)
- Hong Kong 4-2 Iran (3 goals, 2 penalties)
- Iran 1-0 Kyrgyzstan (1 goal)
- Kyrgyzstan 2-3 Iran (1 goalβ
β
Azmoun (4)
- Hong Kong 2-4 Iran (1 goal)
- Qatar 1-4 Iran (2 goals)
- Kyrgyzstan 2-3 Iran (1 goal)
Ghaedi (3)
- Turkmenistan 0-1 Iran (1 goal)
- UAE 0-1 Iran (1 goal)
- North Korea 2-3 Iran (1 goal)
Mohebi (3)
- North Korea 2-3 Iran (2 goals)
- Qatar 1-4 Iran (1 important goal, 2nd one wasn't)

God we are so cooked. Now if we want to fire GN it's with our two most critical games ahead of us with Uzbek and UAE left. Really for anything to change, he needs to go? Also what the fuck is Macaroni doing with our defense?
