i'd (& most all coaches) rather him playing an instrumental role in Winning than scoring goals in a losing effort ...!! Goals are just a extra Bonus..!

goes back to kharo khorma analogy..! he is no longer the focal point of attack, neither just responsible for offensive production so scoring rate is gonna have to suffer but so long team is winning and he is contributing well to that winning effort he will continue to play decent roles on those teams based on available squad options to each respective team..!

in jest, i agree that he needs to defo step up his production rate at both club and TM, especially so @club, as scoring plays a much more vital role in extension of his EU career at top levels..!
i can already notice the urgency on scoring fronts in both club n country from him...!! not worried about TM ... but at club level he needs to become bit more greedy uptop and defo needs to become Far more Decisive, Gholdor and Quick-Dispaching of goal bound efforts..!

LOL I'm not sure if anyone ever pays attention to Mehdi's penalties, but he pretty much always shoots them down the middle. I think I've only ever seen him choose a direction like 2 times ever

he sold the idea (assumed correctly) that keeper looking to dive to one side or other in hopes of a lucky interception ..! so the idea to go down the middle was correct, however he failed to hit it higher off the ground abit more to prevent from a lucky last gasp kick save..!

regardless of OG and pk miss, he was defo the best TM player vs NK and that so by a country mile..!
was all over the pitch helping out MF/D Attack the whole time on, had at least couple of good efforts on goal which unluckily for him didtn go in for one reason or another , set up All 3 goal with absolute world class assists and even the OG was actually further vindication of his commanding presence all over the pitch in that game ...!!

and yea he still should be/remain the Captain...!! He is More than qualified from most important factors considered..!!
he will likely polish on his captaincy duties as games go by and everyone in the squad become slowly convinced that he is the chosen one and they will get in line ...!!
besides from another perspective, maa iroonia (@ all levels) by nature are all Chiefs and No indians....! and frankly need our leaders to mostly Strong-arm us into following rather than Inspiring ...!

Mohebi is probably the best candidate as backup IMO. If he's made Captain, by the time these old timers retire he will be 28-29. He's professional and he is always humble

The guy looks totally depressed. You can see no joy on his face. Regarding the captain, he's unfortunately not captain material. Tbh, it's really hard to find a typical leader in this squad tragically but the one I think could possibly be a good candidate is maybe ezzi or Ghoddoos when they play. And this is really sad. And I think Iranian really need to get over this Taboo to have captain who's younger than many other players in the squad.
