Not only they plan and invest in their u-17 and u-23 teams, their main national team managers actually invite and play young players which gives them exposure instead of saying shit like "the national team is not the place to develop players". Same goes for Japan and Korea.
The other factor is that their club football isn't retarded like ours where players were bums like Beiro and Alkasir make more money than god. Our players have very little incentive to league Iran and work their way up in lower European clubs.
Last but not least: sanctions. Many foreign clubs simply don't want to deal with the headache which comes with doing business with Iranians, send scouts to Iran, etc...

These relative success make us very conservative with young players.
I also wonder if there isn't some parti bazi on selection of players, starting with young level academy and then club level.

Agree, another difference is that Uzbekistan choke constantly on senior level while we have some success : qualifications to wc and win against Morocco, wales on world cup, semi final of AC after beating the superfavorite, legionnaires scoring against big teams in UCL, final of ACL with PP..

The big gap is the development and experience they need between ages 16-19.

Ezatolahi is another parti player who’s name is already on the list before they give it to coach. Big parti player who never achieved anything on football field. I never heard of any other player dad on committee to vote to fire national team coach. Crazy stuff.

Either through being too slow to run back, too slow to cover for wings, causing deflection own goals (Palestine, Qatar), penalties, or sometimes being too scared to cover someone during set pieces (pretty much all recent games).
Not to say other TM players aren't also at fault for a lot of our problems either lol, Eza is still better than most but it's crazy how we've become reliant on a CDM who is benched in UAE half the time and has 1 goal for TM in almost 80 caps
