How Egypt is so ahead of Iran in sports?

Iran internal situation and sanctions aren't good but how an overcrowded country, having a revolution and dictatorship recently and a pretty Islamic/conservative population like Egypt outclass us in so many sports?

Football, they have world class players like Salah and Marmoosh we never had. Powerhouse in Handball, Squash, good presence in a lot of other sports where we are completely absent.
Even in sport where we are strong like volleyball weightlifting and wrestling they slightly behind us

Outclassed in what area? They did not qualify for the world cup in 22, they did not won one match in Russia 2018... they did not even won a match in their last africa cup... They are ranked 33 in fifa ranking while Iran is 18... You mean we outclass them.

In 2024 Olympics Iran was ranked 21th while Egypt was ranked 52... So other sports Iran is better... Weird thread man. Football is a teamsport, not individual

In MENA, Iran is the dominant power in all sports consistently.

Even if Eygpt has a few amazing individuals, it has never been able to translate that at a higher level in terms of international competitions.

Egypt has never won a game at the World Cup. We have won 3.

Well in term of football, beside the individual talents I quoted we had never produced, they have al ahly that won several continental cups and are far from ridiculous when they face the European champions league winner. I wonder when we reached that level.
For national team, they won several africa cup and not 40 years ago.
Fifa ranking means nothing when we spend 4 years playing HK iraq palestine and once either Japan or SK.
Their lack of wc participation is largely due to Africa confederation incompetence where they use some play off between two strong teams while two weaker teams play each other.

About Olympics, there is nothing to be proud. We maximize medals in two (minor) sports and are largely absent in most of others. They outnumbered our participant athletes aswell (148 vs 41)

Handball they are among the best of the world, Squash they are number 1 by far.
Some other sports, they are doing ok while we are very far
