We really have no excuse, you have teams like Japan beating both Germany and Spain. You also had South Korea which is a team we owned for 10+ years beating Portugal and going to next round. At this point r16 needs to become a thing for us for our football to move forward

2022 was unfortunately lost to off-field issues.

Imo opinion what we doing is miracle.
Only thing put us in this situation #17 which 200+teams in the world would die to be in tm place IS TALENT OF OUR PLAYERS.
and the way it looks like it will be like this from here on as well.

We will always make excuses for our group as Iranians. On paper 2022 group was not that bad at all. The political stuff screwed the team up but the teams themselves were fine.

I agree that 2022 was the easiest group we had, we were way better than USA and could have won if Azmoun wasn't injured.

2014: we got prime Messi
2018: we got prime Ronaldo
2022: saka and dest roasting Milad which is not really comparable to previous tournaments
2026: r48, no more excuses

8/12 best 3rd place teams also advance to round of 32. If we can’t even manage to be one of those 8 teams or simply come in second in our group, I think it’ll be time to dissolve TM and focus on literally any other sport

Its why fixing our defense is so crucial. In Asia, Taremi and Azmoun are gods who can force their ways through. At the World Cup, they are your average low tier strikers. What's gonna be the difference maker is how disciplined our defense is, and if we're conceding 7 goals in 3 games from NK, Kyrg, etc then we got A LOT of things to focus on.
