Iran Football has had problems from the beginning. If you look at Turkey and Egypt their clubs have existed since early 20th century, Iran on the other hand now has Rahahan as her oldest club founded in 1937. Financial issues, corruption and lack of management has existed until the late 1960s. Then it was the golden age 1968-1979 and then again back to how it was or even worse such as malicious acts like after 1980 Asia Cup, people in charge of Iranian Football Federation tried to get rid of all the big names from 1978 squad such as Hejazi, Ghasempour, Faraki, Sadeghi and few others. Later on in the 1990s they didn't want Bavi, Marfavi and few others no more. Then they destroyed clubs such as Daraei, Shahin, Pas, Homa, Ararat, Payam Mashhad etc. Then from 2006 they started their attack on certain regions and cities eg. since 2006 they have been very much anti-Mashhad and anti-Khorasan and they finally won by insuring no Mashhad team exist in the IPL.
