You either don't remember or didn't follow Iranian football back then. Everyone, every newspaper, tv show, everyone was calling TM "Esteghlal".
He was criticized so much that they either made him change or he came to his senses.
We even had tons of threads about it here, it was one of the few times in PFDC history where almost everyone, except a few Esteghlalis, were outraged with GN and his decisions.
So please learn the facts before before making silly comments.

He had only one friendly game before the start of 3 important ACQ's (which started 8 days after the friendly game against UAE), so naturally he chose to go with players he was already familiar with and had won the championship with! After those few games, he had more time to work on the team and not only did he change from system, he almost completely ignored players from Esteghlal after that!

I already went through EVERY SINGLE MATCH UNDER GN and counted every single player from Esteghlal used in each match and posted here in PFDC for everyone to see after your baseless lie that he "ignored all other team's players and only played Esteghlali players under his reign". Fekri at that time won the championship with Esteghlal and was one of the best defenders and THE BEST sweeper in Iran! Just like the fact that you can't play two backs (LB and RB) in a 3-5-2 system, the other fact is that one of the defenders in a 3 men defense (next to two CB's) should be a sweeper! Tell me one more sweeper in Iran at that time who could fill in this spot! I've asked you this question before btw.

Whether we should have played 3-5-2 or not is another whole different duscussion, but ok GN chose for this system in the first few games (because he used to play that system in Esteghlal where he won the title with), so the most logical choice was to get the best sweeper we had in Iran at that time!

When after a short time GN had time to work with the team, he changed to a 4-men defense and naturally got rid of Fekri because he didn't need a sweeper anymore! Perhaps you lack basic football understanding to understand this!

Perhaps YOU forgot, but FYI we only had 1 friendly before the start of the ACQ! The friendly was on 8th of August against UAE and the first ACQ match was only 8 days later and the ones after that vs. Korea and Syria again were only 2 weeks after the first (so in the first week of September). It is only natural for a completely new coach to stick to what he knows in the beginning, especially when you had so few time to prepare before 3 important ACQ games with only 1 friendly game!

GN was appointed as TM coach on the 17th of July! Barely 3 weeks later (on 8th of August) we had our first and only friendly match against UAE and only 1 week after that we had to start our series of important ACQ games where we played 3 games in a span of 3 weeks (2 of them away matches, out of one was in South Korea). Ah well, I'm not going to repeat everything again and again. You either get it by now or you don't. Cheers!

I don't know why there is such a lack of understanding from people of this forum how IPL and IFF works. To get to power or to manage a top club in IPL you need support from internal government forces. To get there you need to support politicians under the table and pay their dues to be considered for a position. A lot of our soccer is ran by people who make decisions not for the well being of our soccer, but for the well being of their bank accounts. It's just my two cents after you notice a lot of Mullahs are given critical positions that they are not qualified for. CQ was a heavily debated topic among many Iranian coaches because he wasn't chosen based on how much money he gave to those in power, but how well experienced he was. There will always be a debate and disgust among well respected local coaches when a foreign coach comes in with a new method.

and thats exactly why he is an idiot those two matches are not even comparable. Iran didnt advance against pretty much the B team of korea when iran had one of their best squads ever, clearly big respinsibility on the coach. Iran didnt advance against iraq because of an incompetent referees decision. No matter how much you dislike queiroz you cannot deny the fact the iran would have easily won if it werent for al-williams. So the responsibility is a lot less on the coach.
