I was concerned to notice, the incorrect proliferation of the term 'Arabian Gulf' in your website as the name for UAE League. Link:http://www.fifa.com/world-match-cent...090/index.html

Please note that the term 'Arabian Gulf' was first coined by Pan-Arab nationalists in the 1960s as an offensive and racist term used primarily to irritate their Iranian neighbours. This is an inflammatory term, and an attack on Iran's national Identity and sovereignty, its a political agenda with which FIFA should not be associated.

In stark contrast, The Persian Gulf and its equivalents in different languages have been continuously used for 3000 years in all languages, cultures, and civilizations across the world. More than 2000 ancient literature, books and maps belonging to the past three millennium contain this name as proof of the Persian Gulf as the correct nomenclature.

The correct, legal, terminology recognized by the United Nations is the 'Persian Gulf'.
The group of experts on Geographical Names was set up by the secretary-general of the United Nations in pursuance of economic and Social council resolution 715A(XXVII) on April 23, 1959 and has endorsed 'Persian Gulf' as the official name for this body of water.

The use of the name 'Arabian Gulf' was described to be 'faulty' by the eighth United Nations conference on the standardization of Geographical names, Berlin, 27 August September 2002.

FIFA's inaction regarding a member country that mixes racism and political agendas with sports is contradictory to FIFA's principles and slogans. Any region or country that tries to rename Persian Gulf based on purely race is not only promoting racism and political agendas but also defying FIFA's principles.

We need assurance from FIFA, that UAE will be forced to change their league name as its a racist and a political act against the Iranian people.

I just called FIFA again,
this time it was a guy that picked up the phone, He said we have received several complaints regarding this matter, and we are looking into this.


I said to him , Iranians are going to bring in a banner to the FIFA world cup in Brazil , which says FIFA SAYS YES TO POLITICS AND RACISM ,and we will make sure that the world knows ,which, FIFA; by being silent is defending this racist Pan Arabic political agenda against the Iranian people.

He listened to every thing I said and thanked me at the end and said we will take note of it.

my dear friends we need to put more pressure into this.

maybe an article on the front page of Persian football, and an official letter by the PFDC staff as an Iranian media outlet, would make a great impact.

the IFF and government can do a lot of things regarding this matter.

- We can boycott playing UAE and UAE AFC CL clubs and point out on this matter. whatever will happen, let it happen. we can do it via "clubs" not national but saying that every club is not ready to face these clubs.

- We can build two great stadiums (60.000 seaters) in southern Iran at the coast in Khuzestan or Hormozgan for example in Abadan, Bushehr Bandar Abbas or on Kish/Qeshm Island and name them Persian Gulf Stadium I and Persian Gulf Stadium II and always play arab national teams in this cities!

Special:
- the seaters will have different colors and one color will display the stadium name P E R S I A N - G U L F.
- A banner at the middle of the stadium at the level of the middle line which will regime the stadium name Persian Gulf Stadion I.
- And when the fans come to the stadium and take the seats, make sure that they become white T-Shirts or platy "suits and regive the name of the Persian Gulf also at match time, like Fc Bayern sponsor t.com do this while every match…

You have provided great ideas, even though i know none of your great ideas will be implemented by IFF i will call Them and especially tell them about boycotting playing against UAE, will write about my conversation here.

caspian or caspin= ghazvin in the old days it was called daryayeh ghazvin or mazandaran or daryayeh gorgan ,or tabarestan. its been changed to khazar by our lack of historic education, because khazars were not iranian tribes they were living along the edge of caspian sea for some time and kept on attacking the gilan and mazandaran region , yet we name our sea after them , and the whole world calls it caspin(ghazvin), even arabs call it bahr ol ghazvin بحر قزوين

also the Oman sea or the arabian sea which we call today , was called Persian Sea historically and yet, we, because of our lack of historic education, call it oman sea or arabian sea, Oman didnt even exist, when the whole region was under the rule of persian empire

usually the gulfs are named after the sea's that join them , in our case persian sea and persian gulf are the two joining bodies of water

im really hoping that, the pfdc staff would write an article on the front page of Persian football, and an official letter by the PFDC to fifa as an Iranian media outlet would be published with the article, it would make a massive impact , im sure the rest of the iranian media will follow as well
