Sepp Blatter finally calls Qatar WC a "mistake"

Sepp Blatter must go. He has been the FIFA lead dog since 1998. Surely there are other competent people. However international football is very much politicized [see Iran and its inability to arrange top flight friendlies and WC site selection] so the powers to be want their kind of person to remain in charge...enter Mr.Blatter. This is why there are are no term limits for the FIFA head job.

Heat Rises on Corruption Allegations in Qatar World Cup Bid

Secretary-General Hassan Al-Thawadi (3rd L) of Qatar's Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, the nation's 2022 World Cup organizing committee, speaks during a news conference to announce the start of work on the Al-Khor Stadium in Al-Khor June 21, 2014.

As soccer fans flock to their televisions for the World Cup final this weekend, the FBI and international investigators are looking ahead to allegations of corruption and abuse halfway around the world in Qatar, where the 2022 games are scheduled to take place in one of the hottest places on earth -- where daytime temperatures regularly reach 124 degrees.
During the World Cup this year in Brazil officials declared the first-of-its-kind water breakallegations by human rights groups of what the groups called medieval conditions for migrant workers there that could cost the lives of hundreds who will build the new World Cup stadiums. In one migrant living space visited by ABC News last month, 10 beds were stacked together in a single room.
But those troubles were ignored in the final vote that came down to Qatar and the U.S., which had named 18 potential host cities. The U.S. lost.
Not long after the vote, allegations surfaced that some FIFA members had been bribed to vote for Qatar. Most of the allegations focused on prominent Qatari billionaire businessman Mohammad Bin Hammam, then a FIFA board member accused by The Sunday Times

Of course that still didn't solve the issue of the fans boiling to death on their way to the stadium or being stuck in their rooms for the duration of the tournament because of the heat or to insure they don't insult the Qatari's "cultural" values!
Qatar 2022 was a retarded idea to begin with and with every passing month, it becomes even more retarded. FIFA should limit the holding of the World Cup to countries who have made the 2nd round in recent decades, to insure that the host at least has a footballing culture and the fan base.
There are only 280,000 or so Qataris - the rest of the population is predominantly poor immigrants. That means 20-30% of all of Qatar's population has to show up to every game to fill the stadiums!!! That's how ridiculous this whole idea is and there's a reason hardly anyone showed up to the Asian Cup games when they held the tournament.
Like Toronto's crackhead mayor, I think a lot of people in FIFA need to check into a good rehab program, 'cause I don't know what kinda shit they're smoking!

My question is what will Qatar do with these stadiums after let's say the 2022 WC? They can't even fill a small stadium and their clubs have very small number of supporters.

The other thing I never understood is how is a population of 2 million people going to host 500-600,000 tourists?! I mean, come on! You can't temporarily increase the population of a country by 25-30% and expect it to go well.
Germany had a population of 75 million when it held the WC - Brazil over 200 million. Even with that population and the games being scattered over 12 cities in the world's 5th largest country, hotel prices were ridiculous in the lead up to the tournament - to the point that many fans got turned off.
So, how the hell is a country the size of Sao Paolo with 1/6th of its population going to hold the same tournament with the same number of tourists?! They're going to construct hotels for 500,000 people or they're expecting everyone to sleep in tents like refugees?!
The more you think about it, the more ridiculous it sounds and the more it becomes obvious FIFA didn't put any thought into it - but of course they took the bribes, so why would they worry about these unimportant details?!

They are really pushing for a winter World Cup because they know their air conditioned stadiums and robot clouds were just talk. And European leagues won't go for the change in their club schedules. I can see them all simply withdrawing from participation in its qualifiers if it's insisted that it be a winter World Cup.
Have no doubt whatsoever. It will be moved.I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

heat and bribery are not the only problems, Qatar is a tiny country composed of conservative tribal bedouins who hate foreigners and despise their habits, one of which is drinking BUDWIESER before , during and after games!! This alone is a major cause for panic for them and I can assure you-Like Russel Peters says about his strict dad " Somebodys gonna get hurt!"so not sure how the rulers are going to cope with this!?!?!
