I think sports in general has become a huge business industry more about economics than fair play. There is not a single sport that is devoid of reffing controversies from Cricket to College Football (US version)....it's become a money maker...black market/counterfeit products, sports betting, endorsements, commercializing/advertising, revenue generation and tourism...it's just too muddy to ever really believe it's fair play first.

I think they will be able to host in the summer if they buy a European country and name it qatar.

I don't think the WC will be taken away from qatar. All the corruption charges seem to have been swept under the rug

The 2022 Qatar World Cup will be held in winter

          http://finance.yahoo.com/news/2022-q...203006432.html

Laurence Griffiths/Getty Images The 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar in November-December, Grant Wahl of Sports Illustrated reports.
Back in November, FIFA general secretary Jerome Valkce announced that the organization was close to narrowing down the dates to two options, November-December or January-February. According to Wahl, they're going with the former.
Qatar originally promised to hold the tournament in the summer with the help of space-age cooling technologies that would lower the temperature from 120 degrees to 80 degrees inside the stadiums. Those technologies remain untested with seven years to go, and now the plan has been abandoned.
Qatar's bid, which was centered around a June/July World Cup, beat out the U.S.'s bid in 2010.
A November-December World Cup would not conflict with the 2022 Olympics, but it will still cause a host of problems. European leagues will have to completely reschedule their seasons. In the U.S., the tournament will conflict with the NFL, NBA, and NHL seasons.
Fox, which previously expressed displeasure at a winter 2022 World Cup, was recently awarded the rights to the 2026 World Cup without competitive bidding from networks like ESPN and NBC.

Nothing a few dollars courtesy of Qatar can't solve (or hasn't already solved)...

Actually its not the World Cup in Qatar that is a mistake! The mistake is Qatar itself! Should never have been created into a country to begin with! it was actually supposed to join the UAE federation but last minute back door maneuvers by the British convinced the Alkhalifa family to go solo...

FIFA ignored its own risk report and now the 2022 World Cup is a nightmare

In 2014, FIFA president Sepp Blatter said giving Qatar the World Cup under the assumption that it would be held in summer was a "mistake."

"Of course, it was a mistake. You know, one makes a lot of mistakes in life," he said on Swiss TV. "The technical report indicated clearly that it was too hot in summer, but despite that the executive committee decided with quite a big majority that the tournament would be in Qatar."

well, Sep, we have mistakes, and then we have mistakes ...... Not knowing qatar is kinda hot in the summer is not a "mistake" ..... it's a blunder.

^ It's easy to talk about mistakes afterwards when you got your money from the Qatari's.

Check out the front page of r/soccer on reddit. Apparently some 1200 workers have already died in Qatar before the 2022 world cup.

The top European leagues are already opposing the proposal.

They can oppose, but the real question is if they will boycott the Worldcup. Fifa will push this to the end as there will be too many law suits if they back out now.
