POST-MATCH | Iran - Argentina | We have earned A LOT of respect!
As we enjoy hard working latin america and mexican teams they also enjoy a good game by an underdog team... I sure hope our name is on the map in football world now... We did well.. we should have scored one but it wasn't in the cards.
even spanish social media is buzzing with comments on iran and how well they performed. obviously Argentinians see it as their god given right to win but most other latinos are also heartbroken for iran
By the way we should compile the critical moments that let to Argi win. It was not just messi but the referee that made it happen.
Here is one of those moments as I recall. In particular at a moment Dejagah had the ball and gong from right corner towards Argie goal (less than 25 yeard away and totally free)then the ball toched the referee's foot and got deflected. Dejagah showed strong reaction and looked at the ref angrily. The ref from that moment started to dislike Dejagah and did not award him penalty when it was well deserved.
A clear handball was not called. Several fouls by Argies were totally ignored.
We need to cut those clips and add them and post them as one video clip here and on Youtube for historical purpose to expose injustice. We can name the clip" Ref+Argentine>Iran.avi
I usually do not use bad words, but this ref was a bast.....
The Ref was ONE main reason why it was an inconsolable day for us! The idiot, got overwhelmed with a highly mediocre Argentina and did not award a legit penalty! when that happens a person like MEssi takes over and wins the game!
It was the classic case of the Underdog story! TM has shown ALL critics and those who wrote us off that we are here to Play, score and even win a few games! Today more so our team showed that with a little more self condidence they could have beaten a mediocre Argentine team filled with paper tigers and hallow stars! now we have ONE more task ahead and that is to BEAT BOSNIA and hope to get to the next round!.... GOOOOOOOO TM!!!!
We might not have won or drawn the game, but our team showed the world that even with so many obstacles like sanctions, insufficient support from the iff, and lack of "quality" players that they could still go the distance against a team that was favored to win the world cup and earn the admiration of the world. We should all be proud of our team melli, no matter what happens in the next game.
I can say today that I've felt something unlike any other emotion, its a mix of the greatest pride i have ever felt at a disappointment I will never forget. Az inke az ye khaki hastam ke in mardani ke emrooz hamichiero vaseye ma roo zamin gozashtam eftekhare binahayati mikonam.
To top it off, we are finally getting the recognition that we deserve from the world. When Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Tim Cahill who is our direct opposition to us in the Asian Cup make such praises you know that you've made it.
I've been with them from the moment that everyone said we wouldn't make the world cup and I've been with them until now and my support for them has never wavered nor will ever. Next week, they are going to put in the performance of their lives against Bosnia, and I believe wholeheartedly we will go to the next round. Even if we don't they've added an unforgettable chapter in our countries history.
Like they said themselves in their video, we laugh together and we cry together, you could see that in Jalal's boghz after the game.
Long live Queiros and Long live the lions of team melli.
I didn't want to start a separate thread, so I'll put this here instead:
Did anyone else notice when the camera went to a shot of one of the Iranian fans with a huge beard (most likely fake)? He looked like he was from the movie 'The Dictator'.....my friend was telling me there was a report about a bunch of Israelis trying to get in the stadium with costumes etc. to make the Iranians look bad, and they were prevented, for the most part at least, from entering. I vividly remember this moment because my dad got pretty mad about why an Iranian guy would dress up like that and even thought it was an Argentine fan trying to be silly. But I wouldn't put it past the Israelis to be honest with you. Anyway, does anyone have any information about this?
Two moments of the match should be combned and posted everywhere.
When the referee makes Dejagah lose his chance by deflecting the ball unintentionally and Dejagah's reaction to that and then the foul and 100% penalty which was not called.
This clip should be called Dejagah Versus Referee
- Although the ENTIRE team played phenomenal, none stood out more than Pejman Montazeri. He had his usual great defending, but our two best chances came from his feet, Gucci's and Dejagah's header. He is very accurate coming up on that wing. Surprisingly so. His crosses are better than Heydari's and crosses are Heydari's specialty. Damet garm Pejman jan, our true playmaker!
- I thought Nigeria dominated Bosnia. They really showed their strength that game. Especially Emenike and Musa. Really puts TM's performance against Nigeria into context. We were able to shut them down. Great performance. And some members here claimed that was a shit and boring performance. LOL. That point could take us to the next round.
