It's so good to have Rafiei and Rahmani back in TM, they have been dearly missed. It'll be great to have no more CAM issue - 3 great options in Rafiei, Rahmani, and Shojaeian.

also a positive indicator of good working relationship between Taj and CQ and it seems as they are hopeful of making headways in battling the conscription generals to grant them TM service exceptions of sorts..??


also The average age of our TM call up list is about the youngest been in quiet sometimes ..!! and even more rare the team doesnt seem to be facing many crucial shortage in depth and too many specific positional needs..!!

Looking at this list what bothers me is the fact that our main central defender (Montazeri & Hosseini) are 32 and 34 years old. In 2018 they will be 34 and 36 years old. And that is way too old!!!

im pretty sure we will see pouraligani alongside montazeri as our defensive CD duo

So many teams in the World Cup had defenders of that age.... Although I agree, we need some more options. But I personally think Hosseini is a type of defender that will play well until an older age.

Hosseini shouldn't be part of our WC 2018 squad in my opinion. The problem with these kind of players during tournaments is that they will become very mistake prone because of fatigue. Playing 3 intensive games in a short span is too much to ask for. This is why our entire backline collapsed during the Bosnia-Herzegovina game. Hosseini made some blunders which he normally never would. We need younger CB's or we will be in trouble.

i think he could be our "veteran" in the back. He keeps fit and his the smartest CD we have. He will be our Yepes.

I think that every player is needed to get us to the wc, we can think about who is to old or not when we have qualified.

if youve paid close attention during the last round of WCQs, Carlos has already begun the transition to youth at CB, CM..!
It's just that CQ has always made such major changes to his Starting Squad in a slow and methodical manner ..!! and thats the way it should be..!!
Lets not get too far ahead of ourself, we are still FAAAR from qualifying to Russia 18..! Sure, our chances look good on paper NOW but any long time TM follower would tell you that it still gonna go down to wire and most likely to the last WC qualifier before faith is sealed in regards to WC18..!
for Now Hossain/Montazeri are still my Top Rated TM CB pairings and I'd guess that will likely remain the case up until mid next year..? but I'm also sure CQ will experiment with youngster in that position in lesser important matches till then, so they can get their International Feet Wet (so to speak) rather than baptizing them by fire..!
after all Experience, Chemistry and Timing play a bigger role in success of CB pairings than pure youth, energy and hustle..!!

Hossaini struggled in the Bosnia game, Mostly because CQ changed our (mostly defensive, countering) tactics and tried to instead take the game to Bosnians, something completely unfamiliar to TM at the time and he paid the price for being so 1 dimensionally Defensive in his choice of traveling WC squad..!

CQ..is constantly giving chances,and experimenting new players for new talents....there are two more years more of experimenting for CQ as well...at the end,who ever CQ says...is the one who should be there.
