Alireza Haghighi got injured during Penafiels match against Nacional today. It seems he recieved a blow to the head due to a collision with the post and was stretchered off on the 38th minute and taken to the hospital. Hopefully it is not serious and he will recover soon.

Penafiel ended up losing the game 2-0.

"Penafiel: Haghighi transported to the hospital
Goalkeeper Penafiel was injured in the game with the National
By Sergio Freitas Teixeira 1 hour

Haghighi, goalkeeper Penafiel, had to be transported to the hospital of Funchal, in Madeira, after an injury in the first part of the game with Nacional. With 38 minutes played, after a long crossing Sequeira, Haghighi defended against the bar and fell helpless on his back. Was to be seen for some time, but turned out to have been transported on a stretcher to the ambulance, which took him to the hospital. By having suffered a strong blow to the head, the keeper went to the hospital to do a TAC."

Concussion is not good, especially for a goalkeeper. Remember Petr Cech and the difficult he had when he came back from his head injury.

^^^ That was a really bad/hard hit - lucky not to have broken his neck.

I hope he's going to be okay and wish there was a way we could send him some get well wishes - maybe as a PFDC effort, send some flowers or something to his hospital. The closest hospital to the stadium would have been Hospital Dr. Joao De Almada in Funchal, Madeira.

If someone wants to take the lead on that, I don't mind donating a bit. It's tough being in a hospital long way from home and not having any support.

Alireza was released from the Hospital after no serious injuries were detected. Several tests were done and he was cleared to go home. He will return to training tomorrow:

"Penafiel: Haghighi tests reveal no serious injury
Goalkeeper Iran will reassess this clinic Tuesday
                          By Germano Almeida

Haghighi, Iranian goalkeeper Penafiel, this Tuesday will be reassessed, but it seems that you can go back to training, since the tests that made serious detected nothing.

The guardian was transported to the Funchal Hospital, having hit his head against a post. Haghighi came to be assisted for five minutes on the pitch, then went to the hospital where he was subject to a TAC.

No serious injuries detected, it is likely that the international Iranian already integrate training on Tuesday, which will mark the return to work of Carlos Brito team after the defeat in Altea."
