Well done. Rather go and play as a Goalkeeper for a smaller team in europe than sit on the bench for years!

The whole story sounds a little bit unclear to me. First he would get signed by a big Portugese team like Sporting and now he joins a third division club. Nothing wrong with that and its good for him to develop + I wish him best of luck, but I find it hard to believe that Chelsea scouts would consider a 3rd tier player. Also, did they sign him or is he just on loan?

Man, talk about some P.R. From being on Mourinho's watch list and receiving multiple offers from big European clubs, to signing with some 3rd division amateur Portuguese team thats probably on par with my local high school team.

I wish this guy nothing but the best, but he would've probably been better off shining the coach's shoes every morning at Sporting for a year rather than playing for some 3rd division team in a relatively weak Portuguese league. I'm not so sure this is even a step up from Esteghlal for him. And next time we have a press release on this guy, can you actually let the kid share his own thoughts rather than the scripted cliche bs someone undoubtedly wrote for him in this article?

Lets hope he is a standout at this club and quickly moves up the ranks in his professional career.

This big clubs were intrested in him and he had some offers from better teams, but as he said in the interview with persianleague he want to be the number 1 goalkeeper. They signed him with a one year contract.

One year contract for a youngster sounds like a loan-deal. So basically he is still owned by Esteghlal and most likely will return next year. Usually when talents get bought by European clubs they sign him for at least 3 years, just like Atletico Madrid did with Saeid Ezzatollahi.

He is 19, he played in IRAN YOUTH LEAGUE before, do you really think its a step down??
He could waisting his taent on the bench of some better teams, but in his opinion he have to play to develoep.

Naval was a Primeira Liga team as recently as 4 years ago and they were in the top flight for 5 years before that. They just dropped to the third division this year, so I suspect they'll be back to Segunda next year.

The obvious problem with that is the 1 year contract, so even if Taha is their 1st keeper and helps them back to 2nd division, it doesn't mean they have to keep him or he'll get some decent exposure in Segunda (like Haghighi did). That's at least a bit screwy!

But then again, the guy's super young for a goalie and has his whole life ahead of him. You gotta start somewhere and not having to deal with the Iranian football mafia doesn't seem like a bad place to start!

Nothing confusing about that. He turned down big offers from Iran and Portugal, in order to play in a team that he can get field time.

They signed him for a year, but there is a clause in his contract allowing his agency to take up another offer in the winter break if they wish.

Sincerely I would prefer that he follows Haghighi path : signing a long term contract with a big team such as Sporting, Chelsea, etc...be on the bench in the beginiing but learn a lot from their high level training and then being loan right and left to develop.

And it is easier to find a team to be loan or bought when you come from Chelsea than from 3rd division

Taha is different than Alireza, he want to be one of the best goalkeepers in the WORLD! you to join a great team can make the big door, prove before, after sign! He wants to step the size of the leg, grow up and thanks to Naval (famous club in Portugal) to believe in one Iranian talent and give a possibility to Taha jump to a big club if have proposals to play in 11 in better clubs

However i think we are fine on the net. We have two good european-based keepers in Haghighi and Davari. If this guy will develop into a good player and will be signed by a first division european side then he must be considered for NT. But at the moment we don't need it since we have two good keepers. I prefered he was a CB, we badly need good defenders to be ready after Hosseini retirement. But i am still glad we have good replacements for the future who are developing in Europe (Zareei, Ezatollahi, Jahanbakhsh, Azmoun etc.)
