    Nekounam & Ansarifard @ Osasuna | 2014-2015

He was the reason we lost to Argentina. He lost the ball with a mistake in the 90th minute and he didn't close down Messi.

He isn't the same player he was 2 years ago.

Saying he is the second scorer doesn't say much when you are in relegation zone in the second division.
So many inaccuracies in this post I don't bother taking seriously.

It's either hero or zero. One day he is a La Liga star and a top lad for saving our asses against Korea, the other day he is just a 34 year old player in the relegation zone of the 2nd division who caused the Argentina loss.

People need to rewatch Messi's goal again before they blame Nekounam.

As Abtin mentioned in his previous post, Ansarifard is back in Pamplona and participated in the Osasuna training sessions:

        "Ansarifard back with Osasuna

The Iranian player Osasuna , Karim Ansarifard , has joined the rojilla Tuesday discipline after returning from his country, where he has been conducting a series of bureaucratic procedures that have prevented him from being present in the last two games. Thus, the technician Jose Manuel Mateo has a front more available, easing the burden of responsibility in front of goal that has fallen on Nino recent weeks."

90th+ Minute. World cup game in Brazil. In soaring heat. Against a possession based team of Argentina's standard. Defending the whole game. Name me a player who would have the energy to close down Messi under those circumstances.

Who knows why he wasn't captain for that game, from what I've seen and heard he was captain up until that point? but it doesn't really matter, Nekounam is the type of player who is still going to give it his all for Osasuna

            Suppose innaccuracies:

            1. He hasn't declined as of 2 years ago. There are no players past 32 that improve with age. Your prime is between 28-32.

            2. He is on a team in the relegation zone in the 2nd division of LA liga. Is this false?

            3. He lost the ball and should have closed down Messi quicker. Video shows that.

I've seen the goal many times. Here is the entire game for your reference. Look at these times in the game
              https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EpBLN6gHFKs

              1. 89:50 Nekounam lost the ball in the middle of the field cause he tried to dribble through the entire team

              2. 90:20 Nekounam waits 3-4 and allows messi to go one on one with Gucci. If he helped 2 seconds earlier messi wouldn't have had the open shot.

Either of these occasions had Nekounam made the correct decision to make the simple pass and help gucci on messi we wouldn't have lost. Even the English commentator days the second player isn't there.

Yes Nekounam was tired but he wouldn't have made such glaring mistakes 2 years ago.

Messi was one on one with Ghoochannejad, not Dejagah.

You're right on that. My mistake.

Again it's obvious Nekounam lost the ball and didn't help on closing down messi. Please tell me how it's different.

i agree with you. neckou was at fault for not closing messi down as soon as he made the run to his left. CQ also at fault . i dont know why CQ subbed hajsaifi out.. he had messi closed down! brought in haghighi and we saw that consistent pressure from hajsafi die in the last minutes.

That's what killed us. Haghighi sucked he was simply too slow.

Honestly that was an amazing goal.
Haghighi couldn't have really done much more then he did. Plus he was spectacular the rest of the game.

Haghighi isn't at fault here. Messi scores these goals typically. Had Nekounam not lost the ball and if he had closed down Messi he wouldn't have scored.

Our boys stopped Argentina for 92 minutes. It is not fair to look at the game events in abstract. 6 other WC teams could not stop the Argentine company better than Iran did. But having a keeper like this would definitely help too:

                              https://youtu.be/rzUqIB5aqt8
.... At the end I am nothing other than ordinary

Haghighi had the best game ever in a TM jersey that day. No other game that he's played equals that performance.

How could it not be fair? We lost because of that mistake. That's what makes the difference when you go to the top level of soccer. Any mistake you make will be taken advantage of and that's what they did. We had a flawless game until that point.
