This is your idea. I have been following iran news agencies for a long time. Khabarfarsi is one of the most popular and reliable one.

Lol that article and statement is back from May even before he joined TM in Austria, and he even participated there and was in Brazil.
This is what he had to say before the game against Nigeria

So I would def count on Esteeve in the next few years, he can still be an optional RB at the AC 2015 and WCQ 2018

Honestly even if I bring a video of him saying that you guys would still say that he didn't say it and that he meant something else.
          Mast siahe dige.

This is how I imagine some of you read Iranian football news:

Kent Brockman: "Turning to the stock market, animotion is up an eigth..."
          Homer: "Yes!"
Kent Brockman: "After plunging 75 points this morning."
Homer: "Ouh.. I hope plunging means up, and 75 means 200."
Kent Brockman: "The firm declared super-duper bankruptcy. Which is terrible news for the company's only stock-holder...... Homer Simpson."

btw, In other crappy undeserving half Iranian legionnaire news, Cerezo Osaka and Hasegawa got relegated to 2nd division J. League. Which is terrible news for the player's only supporter...... Homer Simpson (I mean Kiarash).

Hes clearly not proud of playing for iran. He has said numerous times that it was solely a footballing decision and has pretty much implied he would rather have played for the u.s had the opportunity been given. If his injury heals he would be a nice player to have in the squad but he is nowhere near as good as the defenders we have.

"Kia Vancouver Soccer Talk has now been told that the 'Caps will indeed protect Manneh. This after sources told the radio programme that Steven Beitashour would also be protected in the upcoming expansion draft. The MLS expansion draft takes place on December 10, 2014."

You and clipsport are delusional. "He said he solely came to Iran for football reasons?" Really? Can you give me that exact quote? Or did he say it was best for his career and that he also enjoys to play for his native land Iran?

I'm pretty sure it was the latter, but you both are selective reading to reinforce your hatred for this guy. Seriously, I hope this guy either A.) Slept with some of your mothers/wives, or B.) Slept some other member of your family, because you guys will really go to hell and back to prove he is some vatan-foroush traitor.

If this were the reverse situation, and a player was leaving Iran to play for the U.S., but still played for PP or Esteghlal, would you be happy if the guy blatantly said, "I NEVER wanted to play for Iran, I only wanted to play for U.S."

Do you think that guy's career would last much longer in Iran? Seriously, every interview the guy did, he did his best not to piss off the country that employs him for his club, as well as the country he is playing for nationally. That is why his answers were two-sided. Some of you are just too stupid, or hard-headed to understand that.

This has been said on these boards 100's of times, and I'm getting pissed that some of you are still on about it. He plays for TM now, so just shut your mouths because that's not changing. You're only pissing everyone else off by bringing up the same tired arguments.

"Beitashour couldn't be happier with switch from U.S. to Iran"

You do understand that you're picking an interview with an American source, with snippets that were picked and chosen for the target American audience right? Seriously, it's an MLS publication, do you think the entire interview is laid out in the 4 or 5 quotes?

You guys are dumb. Seriously, you're picking up on the fact that an American MLS source is focusing on his departure from American soccer, but you ignore all the other interviews where he's clearly said he's happy to play for Iran.

Seriously, you guys and people like you are what is wrong with Iranian football. All the needless judgment of factors off the field that you have 0 knowledge of, but speculate on because you are Mourinhos from your couch.

It's laughable. Hopefully Steven is successful and TM is successful and you haters will crawl back into your holes.

You picked an interview with an american source too...
If there are so many other interviews where he says he is proud to play for Iran then post them. Theres obviously a reason why his name was barely even mentioned during wcq then all of a sudden he comes up when iran makes the world cup. He clearly just wanted to play in and experience a world cup. Im not sure why youre so butthurt I apologize for ruining Iranian football.

"Within five, 10 minutes I felt like they were my brothers," he says of his Iranian teammates. "It's the Iranian culture to be that welcoming."

Although he still struggles with his Farsi and, until his invitation to join the national team, hadn't visited Tehran since he was 5, Beitashour was steeped in Iranian culture. While he was growing up in the Silicon Valley, his father Edward, a retired electrical engineer with Apple who once played soccer at San Francisco State, and mother Pari observed many Iranian traditions.

"The culture is still part of you," he says. "You know your parents were born there. So I definitely feel like I've got strong ties."

                          http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/67/wo...tics-with-iran

"All people supported me and were also animated. My parents were born in Iran, but I have many relatives in the United States," he said. "I enjoy the best of both worlds. I play for Iran but was born and raised in the United States. The same way I celebrate the important Iranian dates, I also celebrate Christmas and other American holidays.

"It's fun. I feel like an Iranian-American. I was born in the United States, but my parents, traditions and my blood are Iranian."

This is just a few sources where you can hear or read from the horse's mouth that Steven is happy to play for Iran.

Since he is American, yes, most of the sources will be American. My point wasn't that American sources are untrustworthy, but rather that MLS.com might pick and choose it's words to avoid damaging the image of American soccer.

I also found other sources from Sports Illustrated, FIFA, and other websites that I can link if you like. I feel like it is time wasted as I could have Beitashour come to your home and say it, and you'd just plug your ears and go "LALALALALALALA" with clipsport patting you on the back to make you feel better.

Please, provide any Iranian sources from 2010 saying that Beitashour hates Iran from Iranmediaextraordinairepressmellitv.com/hdsports. They are very reliable and I'm sure have immediate access to Beitashour for sit-down interviews and have no agendas or biases in their reporting...

Lol all that says is that iranians are welcoming and that he is iranian-american, it doesnt say that he didnt mainly chose Iran because of the world cup. As he said before he came to iran for footballing reasons, to play in the world cup. I hope he is part of the asian cup squad because he is a decent player for asian standards. I have no bias against him but the fact that he even has to justify playing for iran shows that he is somewhat embarrassed of the connotations related to iran nowadays.

Note how your entire basis for hating Beitashour is the one sentence "It's all about soccer," while I have provided you with about 7-8 sources and even some videos.

When will you all learn to swallow your pride, stop being Iranian for a moment, and just admit that you're hating for the sake of hating?

Obviously from all of those quotes about ties to Iran, being happy with his choice, and whatnot, he really meant that he only did it for his football career Everything else was filler to his actually sinister motives. He actually said all that as a secret way to support what you think. Keep thinking like that, it will take you far in this world.

This was a multifaceted decision that is difficult for any player to make. Even Dejagah, who had clearly said in the past that he preferred Germany over Iran, yet people forget about that for some reason. Football players care about their careers, how strange!! Maybe doctors will start making decisions that pertain to their careers in the future too! What a world!

You all flip-flop on everything, and look at everything black and white in order to judge. Maybe take a step back, and think that this guy is complex and many variables were in his mind when making this decision, including important things such as citizenship, bloodline, friends, and yes, maybe even his career. God forbid he cares about that.

EDIT: On the topic of him having to "explain himself," you know that is also a load of bs. He made a controversial decision in the eyes of many to leave the US team for Iran. This caused the media to become interested in this story of a gap being bridged between two enemy nations by football, and Steven did an admirable job of attempting to play it down the middle to neither insult US football nor Iranian football.

You take his attempt at being diplomatic as a bad thing. You can all think that, but to any outsider looking in, you look very foolish.
