Looks like the new Grasshoppers coach has confirmed that Vasic is the number one keeper with Davari as backup before they face FC Basel:

"by confirming Vaso Vasic as number 1 goalkeeper and the Iranian national player Daniel Davari in the role of the substitute's first landmark decision."

Grasshoppers, the new coach and Vasic lost both matches after the winter break, conceding 8 goals in the process (4 goals in each game).

Really tough luck for Davari to join such a struggling club and becoming one of the scapegoats solely for not having many spectacular saves.

Its still puzzling why he joined the Swiss side, they had no hope of getting into the champions league if that indeed was his argument. He would of been better off as a back up in the Bunesliga then the Swiss League.

My guess: he didn't get an offer (or a good offer) from a Bundesliga side, didn't want to go back to the second Liga and wanted to stay close to Germany. Switzerland offered him all that and he can even continue to speak German there. The culture (and language) in the German speaking part of Switzerland is very close to the culture of Southern Germany (and Austria), so he probably feels very much at home there.

Grasshoppers also looked great on paper and it probably surprised him as much as many others how the club desintegrated this last season.

So I wouldn't call it a bad choice, just a bit unfortunate development. But this will test his character and if it doesn't break him, he'll come out stronger.I think he will.

Remember, he's still quite young for a goalie.

90 minutes are gone, now going to extra time.

I really hope this game goes to penalties, we can see if Davari is a penalty killer or not. Really excited for that!

If he stops some penalties and his team goes through in the cup he might regain the much needed confidence and credit from the GC fans!
