When and where did Carlos Queiroz say that he is going to build a young squad in Team Melli? I heard a few people mention that. If there's a link for the interview please share. Thanks in advance.

It was one of the contract extension requirements IFF set for CQ, pretty sure that is.

        ^ Oh ok.

I know this is off topic:

You still think Aria Jasur will play for Iran?

His chances are definitely higher under Queiroz. But it also depends on other factors I don't want to go into. Like other Iranian CAM's and his citizenship issue.

There was a meeting between IFF and JFA, they talked about Hasegawa and JFA told us that they will assist and help us if Aria decides to play for Iran. They will follow FIFA rules so he is in fact eligible to play for us, but for him giving up his Japanese nationality is still a very tough decision.
I heard from my Japanese friend, in contrast to what some say here..Aria told in an interview he would like to join TM.

Here are his two goals against Kawasaki Frontale few weeks ago:

It's because the IR has political problems with the European Union, so nobody wants to hire Iranian players there. You criticize anything here and they attack you as being an Israeli troll. Look at how Iran's U-23 just ended up doing in the Asian games.

Ok. So a semifinal is now guaranteed, now that we have put such a high profile, international master coach?
Because if merely ''advancing from the group to reach the quarters and then bowing out'' is our fate, then we could easily do that with the likes of Veisi or Marfavi. With a fraction of expenses.
Is he guaranteeing at least a semifinal berth?

Btw, no sane person can compare hiring of CQ and hiring of Iranian players. Sanity doesn't allow it.
Our lads face a million obstacles to merely join a European team. And if by now you aren't aware of at least a dozen of these, then you should just stop following football altogether.
CQ has absolutely none of those problems. Not a single one. .... and yet ....
                  Makes you wonder.

No, he's not guaranteeing that. Because we have one of the weakest teams of the last 20 years. He can't go out and kick the ball for the players.

It's funny that people here are so fixated on the coach. A coach can only do so much. The problem is that we have extremely low talent levels. This happens to every national team, it's cyclical and natural.

If you need proof, consider this: after WC 1998 and WC 2006, we sent multiple players to European first division teams, where they started (mahdavikia, nekounam, shojaei, teymourian, etc). After this world cup, we had ZERO positive club outcomes for our players. ZERO!!!!

Now tell me, what control does CQ have over that?

I'm glad we're paying CQ because he's a professional, and frankly, I like him. He's an honest man and charismatic and most importantly, our players love him. Look at what Gucci and Shojaei (who btw, was benched!) had to say about him after the WC games. Shojaei said "we should build a statue of him" after the loss to Argentina. Now sorry Dr Doom, but Shojaei's opinion matters a lot more than yours, and means a lot more than yours.

If a player who was benched by a coach praises him, and others demand that his contract be renewed, that means something. Tell me the last time you heard a TM player praise the coach like that. NEVER.

Also, be thankful: for the first time in our history, we will have a top-level coach in charge for 5,6,7 maybe even 8 years if we go to WC2018, who will know our football intimately by then. Also, we have a coach who gives clear preference to players who go to Europe.

WTF more do you want? you're so goddamned annoying and predictable

^as weak as our squad is, the route to at LEAST the semis should be an obligation for our team. No excuses. No SF at least: change coach and bring in new players.

Although I don't agree with your ideology towards our road to the semis/finals (given how much the Asian game has strengthened over the years, in particular Qatar, UAE, and Iraq) I definitely strongly disagree that is is a weak team, let alone our weakest in the last 20 years lol.

This team is probably 30x as talented, experienced, and just on another level than our 2011 team that managed to finish with 9 points in a equally as challenging group plus an overtime loss to a very strong SK team.

The only thing to TMs disadvantage is the time that has been lost that unfortunately can't be made up for, but on a brighter note given despite our crappy World Cup prep, our players looked physically and mentally ready for the tournament.

Let's just hope CQ can pull off that readiness again and get better results, which we all know he is capable of.

We have enough quality players to get us at least to the semis of Asia. This excuse making machine will be rolling out trash like rubbishing our players and everything just to provide a backdoor for CQ. Quite silly and nonsensical.

Even our 2010-2011 squad with only 2 legionnaires, Gholami as our striker, M.Nouri as playmaker, would have been expected to at least make the semis with the draw that we have been given.
