        Let's clear some things:

        Danial Davari

Davari was not invited because he recently became a father to a baby girl. It's perfectly reasonable that he wanted to spend this time with his family.

        Mehrdad Beitashour

        2. The MLS season is coming to a close and Beitashour will be staying with the Whitecaps as they fight for a playoff spot. However, once the season ends, Beitashour will be at the full service of Team Melli. Should Vancouver fail to make the playoffs, Beitashour will free by the end of October. If they do make the playoffs, Beitashour will be with the Whitecaps until mid-late November.

        Missing/Uninvited Players

Browsing the comments, the most notable ones for people will be Sadeghian, Khalatbari, and Sharifi.

        Payam Sadeghian

If I say Sadeghian has not played in weeks, people will say that Shojaei, Ansarifard, and Pouladi haven't played either. Here's the thing: whether the members of this board like it or not, Sadeghian does not seem to be a player that fits in the framework of what CQ wants. There are technical and behavioural aspects to this. From a behavioural perspective, Sadeghian remains undisciplined, both on an off the field. It was only six weeks ago that he pushed a referee and then damaged property in the changing room. On top of that, he has got into fights with his own team-mates and has proven to be an overly aggressive player (in the negative sense).

I won't bother with the technical aspect since I believe his poor attitude has been the primary culprit.

        Mehdi Sharifi

As for the Sharifi, I agree that he is an excellent prospect. I don't rate the IPL highly but what I believe distinguishes the good from the amateurs is consistency. Players like Hajsafi, Khalatbari, Hosseini, Heydari, and others have become Team Melli regulars because for years they have managed to distinguish themselves in the league. We normally like to jump the gun and call someone a phenomenal talent because they've played 5-6 good games. Mehrdad Bayrami was amongst the top goalscorers last season and people were calling for him to be invited. One year later, the same forward has only score 2 goals in 11 IPL games.

Going back to Sharifi, he is a player who has been performing consistently well since he broke into the IPL scene. What people neglect though is that there are other top players that currently exist in our attacking line such as Azmoun, Jahanbakhsh, Gucci, Ansarifard, Dejagah, etc. Making the transition to a younger generation is not only about calling up players but also playing them. As far as Team Melli is concerned, we've yet to see Jahanbakhsh in a fixed role and Azmoun has only played a few minutes for the senior side so far. When working on a puzzle, you solve it piece by piece. Whereas Jahanbakhsh was a sub for the 2014 WC and Azmoun was not invited, both may become starters by the 2015 Asian Cup which does add the 'new look' to Team Melli. As long as Sharifi continues to work hard and play consistently well, I'm sure he'll be amongst the players that will be brought in as part of the 'new wave' following the Asian Cup.

        Mohammad-Reza Khalatbari

I believe Khalatbari's exclusion is for technical reasons. CQ has proven to prefer physically strong players with a very high work rate. This is one of the reasons that I believe Haj Safi was able to secure the LW position; he's fast, physical, and tracks back to support the defence when needed. Khalatbari is a very effective player when he's in his element but against teams where our opportunities will be limited, he'll mainly be a spectator. This can seen in our WCQ where he was a starter against the Lebanese but benched against the Koreans. Regardless, Khalatbari is 31 years old and some players need to be phased out to make way for the future. Having not been a part of CQ's World Cup plans, it's easier to cast him aside now.

        Other Thoughts

For the longest of time, people complained about how we have have an old team. If age is an issue, then CQ has addressed that in his recent list. From the World Cup roster, CQ has removed Ahmadi (34), Mahini (28), Alenemeh (31), and Hadadifar (31). Also, for individual reasons, Rahmati (31), Khalatbari (31), M. Nouri (31), and Aghili (33) are no longer part of Team Melli.

What remains is the benchmark of CQ's first tenure as the head coach of Team Melli - a strong and organized defence. If we are to objectively look at Nekounam, Ando, Sadeghi, Hosseini, Montazeri, Beikzadeh, and Heydari, none of them are dispensable with so few months and practice matches left to the Asian Cup. Against the likes of Australia, Japan, and S. Korea, these are the players that will have to bear most of the responsibility.

What we do have, though, is a very young and lively midfield and forward line. Looking back to 2012, our defence has been consistently effective whereas as offence was lacking. With the likes of Rafiei, Gucci, Dejagah, Jahanbakhsh, Azmoun, Hajsafi, Masoud, and Ansarifard, we now have enough pieces to play a very aggressive if should choose to. This a significant improvement from the days that our offence relied on M. Nouri, Rezaei, and an out-of-form Ansarifard.

Short Summary of Everything I Wrote

As far as the Team Melli squad is concerned up the 2015 Asian Cup, the plan is simple. Keep the established defensive players and replace the remaining expendable players with promising offensive players. The plan for the next few months is to come up with an offensive line that can match the potency of our defence. The likes of Gucci, Jahanbakhsh, Azmoun, and Hajsafi will be the engine of our offence until the 2018 World Cup so CQ is using this time to establish them in a tactical system similar to our defence. Once the Asian Cup is done and with an established and young offence in place, CQ can look to replace our defenders with the next generation (i.e. Khalilzadeh, Jamaati, etc).

People act like this is the final list and only these players will go to the AC. This is for a camp in Portugal, nothing more nothing less.

And there is always going to be questions. Why not Sharifi, or Yaghoub or Sadeghian?? Well to add someone, somebody else has to go. So if we add Sharifi, one of the forwards would have to be crossed off. Then we would all be asking why that forward isn't included. Anyways, Sharifi probably wasn't invited this time because CQ has spent some camp time with him already... he probably just wanted to take a closer look at players he hasn't invited before like Soroush.

And people need to give Vahid Amiri a chance. He a is a versatile player that can play many positions, and having left footed players on the team is always good. This guy has come out of nowhere in football and he has progressed at a rapid pace. Give him a chance to show his skills.

I really disagree with not inviting MR KB. He is one of the most technical and well gifted players seen in the last decade from Iran. Plays with extreme quickness and flashy skill that leads to goals.

He's also done a tremendous job for TM in the WC qualifiers... I don't see why he wasn't invited atleast as a bench player.

There is no reason to cut Shoja Khalilzadeh. The guy is a beast & probably the best defender in Iran. To top that off he can play as a DM also. Today he was the best player of the match. To not invite him at 25 is blasphemy.

On a more serious note it's almost 3 months to the Asian Cup and I'm going to be all positive about CQ going forward. As far as the list,

I'm looking forward to watching Shojaei run around the field like a drunk chicken with his head cut off because frankly he makes the whole game more entertaining to watch. He's like the Yang in (or is it to) CQ's Yin and that's why he's always invited - understand that, move on and enjoy the show.

Khalatbari has been really annoying me lately with his melodramatic gestures after he misses clear scoring chances and let's face it, TM is not the set of the original Start Trek and even if it was CQ doesn't need another Shatner - not to mention that he's got Karimi lined up to play that alien dude from Stargate, so thank you very much mamali joon, but your acting services are not required.

As far as Sharifi, just give it some thought before you start criticizing CQ for no reason. Ask yourself this simple question: do you need a pilot if you're not planning to fly?! Or better yet, do you really need a bus driver when you're planning to park the bus?!

Tink people, tink... before you get all wound up for no reason.

Queiroz picked 7 defenders compared to 9 attacking players, 10 if you count hajsafi, so I definitely think he is planing on parking the bus

About what you said about Sadeghian or Sharifi : it is CQ work to make them disciplined and help them to be more consistant. Not by avoiding the problem and invite ghost players instead.

Two different topics here. I'll address them separately.

                            Mehdi Sharifi

Sharifi has a good attitude and has been quite consistent in the league. However, as far as our forward line is concerned, I think CQ will using the coming to integrate Jahanbakhsh and Azmoun into the starting XI before looking for alternatives. As long as he remains consistent, Sharifi is definitely a player that has a future with Team Melli. I just don't believe that will happen before the Asian Cup.

                            Payam Sadeghian

I believe the expectation for CQ to discipline players is false. CQ is an excellent motivator and someone that can guide players in the right direction career-wise (i.e. he told Alireza Haghighi not to stay in Iran). However, CQ spends very little time with these players per year and it's not his job to babysit children. Sadeghian is almost 23 years old and should know better. If any coach was to help him, it should have been his head coach (Ali Daei). Instead, Ali Daei only advocated Sadeghian's actions and defended him.

Since Conte has took over Italy, he's stopped calling up Balotelli. Quite frankly, a national team coach shouldn't have to deal with such players and if the player can't smarten up, it's his fault.

the only game we played defensively was against S. Korea in Korea. What makes people think we will not play an attacking game against UAE, Bahrain and qatar. Heck, even against Argentina, we had many good attacking chances, and I would not call it parking the bus strategy.
