Friendly: Iran vs. GD Estoril-Praia @ Lisboa, 10-10-2014
Yadesh bekheir when we played friendlies against Russia, Brazil and Germany...
queiroz is a great coach but for some reason his ideology is to play weaker teams in friendlies. Even when he was coaching portugal he was playing really weak teams

And of course that's in IFF's favour, they can save money and send it to Palestine.
bah bah bah finally Iran versus a team noone ever heard of :-)
at least they wont cancel this one it seems.
why don't they pick teams we haven't heard of in Iran..like Panchargiri e Lahijan or Kapootsazi e Qazvin or something??..at least we could remember it for later reference :-)

Portuguese club team > Third tier Asian national team. The club team has gelled and can pass the ball around, making it a good test against us.
The name of a country > Portuguese club. Country > club.
Suppose you are right but do not you think that a country (Iran ) with many good players like Jahanbakhsh, Dejagah, rafiei, etc is classier than playing against a club? Have some respect for shirt. No good national team in any continent (ex: Japan, Korea, Australia) play against club. Why? Because they are classier than that.
There was rumor that Japan will play against Real Madrid in 2009 but it was denied by Japan federation. Japanese fans and non-Japanese fans said that Japan is much classier than playing against club sides.
the reason Clubs are smaller than national teams is that clubs usually have 2-3 stars but a national team should have at least 11 best players from the same country and style of play. but one good thing is that the stars in a club could totally be from another place, but you usually get a better feel of one style when you play against a national team than a club as a club plays much differently than national teams in competitions.
as an example, Manchester United and England national team are totally different animals. :-) so if you are preparing for playing with England, you cannot learn anything by playing against Manchester.

So have some respect for shirt of your country.
I'd much rather we played a decent national team too. But when you have the islamic republic in charge, you'll have to make do with scraps.
Here is a Portuguese source confirming both Estoril and Benfica friendlies:
"Benfica Iran faces of Carlos Queiroz
By Sergio Pereira
Benfica Iran faces of Carlos Queiroz
The selection of Iran will face Benfica next Tuesday at 10 am at the training center of Seixal.
The team coached by Carlos Queiroz, who is in Lisbon, ahead should have a set made up of players from the first team red and team members B, since Jorge Jesus may not have all their athletes, due to the work of selections.
This Friday, Iran will play with another club in the I League, Estoril. The match is scheduled for 10 am, at estorilista stronghold."
