Australia from what I've seen often performs poorly against weak teams and does better against strong teams

This is IFF's way of thanking Iranian fans for their support through the intense WCQ and WC 14' followed by Asian Cup 2015. Who needs friendlies when we can stay 1st in Asia before we enter AC 2015 and get a horrific early exit at quarters or earlier depending on persian gulf nations group of death's grass-rolling skillz

^Are baba, who needs friendlies against national teams to prepare? Just an old myth, other nations are stupid, the real way to improve and prepare is to train all the day, and play clubs B teams

Dw iran wont be #1 in asia after the korea friendly and will probably be 3rd or 4th in asia going into the asian cup if the other friendlies happen so you will all get your wish

Yes, either what you mentioned or rewarding countries that take advantage of their FIFA days (even more points for playing a higher ranked team) would improve this joke of a ranking. Australia is no worse than 2nd or 3rd in Asia IMO.

                  I think it all goes back to 8 - 0 in 2002.

I bet you anything Iran won't lose this friendly against Korea, we will either win or at least draw. I am even willing to put my money on this!

                      Folks,

I know this is really a farce of a ranking, nonetheless it still feels good to be placed on top of the continent, even under such phony and bizarre circumstances. Last we were number one was I believe 2005 during Branko, I remember even then many of us ridiculed FIFA raking system, yet after nearly a decade FIFA still hasn't managed to come up with a more mathematical and accurate way of evaluating teams and ranking them!

The true FIFA ranking for Asia should be like this

                        1-Japan
                        2-Iran
                        3-Korea
                        4-Australia
                        5-Uzbekistan
                        6-Jordan

so if they beat us, it means we are a good team

Another FIFA ranking and another display of people who don't know what the ranking represents.

Only we deliberately and knowingly fool ourselves with such meaningless crap, lulling ourselves into complacency that we are first in Asia.

And only we get happy by climbing the ranks through NON PLAY. And worse, our coaches actually ''BOAST'' about it!!!
Not that when we do play friendlies try are much to boast about anyway. Madagascar? Palestine? Mozambique? Fifth rated clubs' reserves from a second or third rated league?
FIFA ought to make a trophy for ''the most scared chicken'' teams also and immediately hand it to CQ.

And we wonder why we haven't won the Asia cup in almost 4 decades!

So statically we are still the best of Asia
