I still think we had the best performance of all Asian teams at the World Cup. Had we been in a group with teams like Russia, Greece and Ivory Coast we would have advanced.

I hope I'm wrong, but the Asian Cup will show. We're definitely not having the best preparation.

The advantage of playing matches against club teams is that you remain #1 in asia win or lose! LOL

"Iran football still lead way in Asia despite U-19 slip

AFC: October 24, 2014 - Iran have remained as Asia's top ranked nation despite falling seven spots to sit 51st overall in FIFA's October rankings and not playing in the recent international break.

Coming off the back of a 4-0 loss to sixth ranked Brazil, Japan also slipped four places but now only sit one spot behind Team Melli in 52nd overall and second in Asia.

Uzbekistan, Korea Republic and Jordan rounded out October's top five despite also all dropping down the rankings.

Iraq and Qatar, who put together three straight wins in the October, were the biggest movers in Asia's top ten both jumping nine places overall to now site in seventh and tenth respectively.

After a scoreless draw with the UAE and 1-0 loss to Qatar, 2015 AFC Asian Cup hosts Australia continued their recent slip down the rankings to now sit as Asia's 11th highest ranked team after dropping to 94th overall.

Germany, Argentina and Colombia remained as the top three ranked sides.

The next chance for Asia's top sides to climb up the rankings and build for Asia's biggest football tournament will be in November.

The international break will include a rematch of the 2011 AFC Asian Cup final between Australia and Japan."

Japan will be the top team of Asia in next Fifa ranking most likely. The results of Asian Cup tournament have big effect on the Fifa Ranking.

Nope. We would not have advanced. (We still would have finished fourth in the group)

IFF needs to follow the model of countries like Mexico and South Korea who have regularly scheduled friendlies for all FIFA days. Once the team has established a track record and is deemed marketable, IFF could even be able to make money from the received offers and reserve decent fixtures with top FIFA squads at a lower price. Hopefully the political situation in Iran improves more and leads to expanding sports ties with the international community.

You are right but politics and sanctions (on banking system) don't allow IFF to do so.

BTW, IFF has never maximize FIFA dates with friendlies in his history if i am not mistaken

These excuses are starting to rub me the wrong way. How is TM travelling to Europe? How is Hedayati purchasing Getafe? We made that excuse for our players not going to Europe, but then tell me, Nekounam, Ansarifard, all the portugese based players, and ARJ in Holland, are they playing for free? IFF got paid by FIFA...we are just doing goshad bazi and making excuses for IFF's incompetence. If we can line up Sweden for next year, no reason why we can't get a Mexico, or Ghana for this year.

^With this Sweden thing, retards at IFF has realised that teams plan MONTHS in advance to secure the best, not weeks, like donkeys are used to in Iran. You KNOW there will be FIFA days before both tournaments, still these clowns try to plan their shit last minute. People still wondering why Iran is so aghab mundeh..
