But if we perform badly, and lose, then I'm not sure. But even if he does poorly, we will still do poorly at the next asian cup with another coach, so I'm not sure I want him gone unless we don't advance from our group or are eliminated by Iraq or something..
Lol, you don't know what you want and I agree!

This is exactly what Khodadad Aziz said in his last interview.

        He said that

"None of Asian Cup coaches (J. Aguirre, Stielike, Postecoglou, Saudi Arabia and Uae coaches, etc) are getting the money that CQ is getting. Because of that, he must achieve something extraordinary in Asian Cup 2015 like qualifying the team to the final match of Asian Cup tournament. If not, that will be unacceptable."

Note that CQ had an interview with Portuguese news agencies during Portugal camp and said he accepted Iran offer because it was an exciting one in terms of financial. Also note that Khodadad Azizi was against his contract renewal like me.

        We will see what happens.

I am not but he is a legend IMO and I agree with most of his ideas. That is why I put them here.

The same Khodadad Azizi who said if he used the same style as CQ, he could also hold Argentina to one goal in the WC. The same Khodadad Azizi who said using a defensive system is easy. The same Khodadad Azizi who wanted CQ to stay after our loss against Uzbekistan because he thought CQ should be held responsible when we don't qualify for the WC, believing we would fail. The same Khodadad Azizi who couldn't do anything of note with any team he has coached.

I think that tells us all we need to know.

Because he doesn't let politics influence his decisions?

AW: Why CQ is the best coach we have ever had, or ever will have

He's undoubtedly the best coach we ever had. Thinking that will automatically earn us the best Asian Cup result in more than 30 years is naive though.

I draw a line at a semifinal berth. Anything below that, CQ has failed.

Honestly bro, I've only lowered my expectation because of the "CQ unconditional lovers Camp" (CULC) . Like Camran said, if we go out in the semis, having played a good game, but being unlucky or having absolutely terrible referring calls (as was the case against Argentina), I'm willing to continue to give CQ the benefit of the doubt.

What I'm really worried about is that we go out in the group stage or the quarters against a team like Iraq (heaven forbid) and we're still being called retards by the CULC ad we'll be hearing excuses (already on the way) of how IPL players suck, TM has no talen, we don't have the facilities, IFF didn't have money to arrange friendlies, we're under sanctions, IR is shit, blah blah blah.

Down with the CULC. Down, down.
Yanki go home. CULCi go home.

I agree with the above anything less than quarterfinals then CQ should go.

i think to expect final four is not unreasonable since we are in the top 4 anyway. we have made the semis many times as well so it would not be uncharacteristic neither. if we truly want to measure his greatness a finals appearance is necessary in order to say cq is better than a branko or coach x who finished third. but lets not fool ourselves tm will not be playing offensive football in asia neither and all one has to do is watch the 2014 qualifiers again. we got results but did we play like the top team from asia? did we not park the bus against korea home and away?

if we finish 3rd or go as far as semis then cq has not done anything special just like in the world cup and like others i hope we dont hear how cq is the best ever and get another huge campaign to resign him with a raise if he just delivers the minimum and imo the minimum for iran football in asia is a semi final appearance.

Quarter finals to me is not acceptable. A team that according to FIFA is number one in Asia must win it all, no excuses. And that should be TM goal and nothing less.
