The best LB we have in Iran is JAMAATI.

you want PACE? He got it.
You want TECHNIQUE and BALL CONTROL? He got it.
You want PASSING? He got it.
You want GOAL SCORING & SHOT POWER? He got it.
You want HEIGHT? He got it.
You want YOUTH and ENERGY? He got it.
You want BUILT & PHYSIQUE? He got it

Show me one fullback in Iran who has ALL of these attributes.
Even Pouladi doesnt come close to him. Jamaati's nose for goals puts him ahead of pouladi.
Hajsafi comes close. But again, he is shorter than Jamaati, so he won't be as useful in aerial battles.

It's just a mystery why he isn't in TM. The only explanation is he's not a part of a popular club!

DD jan, I haven't really seen Jamaati in action so I can't really judge him that well, but all those attributes might make him good on paper, on paper like you said he might be better than Pouladi, but did you actually see Pouladi in the world cup? Our best player..

I really thought so as well, and cq did use him in a game, but for some reason he may have saw something he didn't like?

Normally I'd agree with you on this as I am a fan of Jamaati too, but this season he hasn't been in very good form especially in comparison to previous seasons. Ghafouri definitely outclasses him in all those aspects you named and should be tested on the left flank instead of the right.

Yes, I did see pouladi in action at the WC. And I agree he was one of better players at TM. Especially in the first two games.

But lets pause and think a little further. What did pouladi do? Defensively he did magnificently in our parked bus.
He saved at least 2-3 100% goals fr us. And he covered and ran and tackled and headed away and ... . marvelous.
But what did he do offensively?
I can't really remember anything. Maybe he did. But I just can't recall.

Now, not that I think jamaati would have done better offensively. Because offense was not so much on the menu for those games anyway. But using three WC games doesn't tell us everything in our comparison.
Full credit to him for those games. But ....

You might be right, I don't know either if Pouladi is good at attacking, all I remember from him is his assist vs Qatar in the first round of wcq.. But the thing is, in the world cup, barely our wingers and forwards were attacking, so not sure how much Pouladi should have been. I guess it is hard to tell if he can do it well due to CQ's tactics.

any player that saves 2 to 3 100% goals as a defender doesn't have much explaining to do for his lack of offensive .... right ? Most teams would kill to have a defender on their team that saves 2 to 3 100% goals

I agree about Heydari .... I don't see why there is so much hate on Heydari. I have watched the Iran-Korea friendly a number of times and I think all this criticism on Heydari is just becoming like a fad. One guy says it, and 10 guys repeat it and so then it becomes fashionable to put him down.

The haters can say all they want about Heydari, but he is always one of the most active players on the pitch. His crosses are predictable, but if you notice, he has cut down on the number of crosses he does in a game by a large margin. He is still a very solid attack minded FB and he played very well with JB and in the past with Ashkan.

I want to see Jaamati tested again, he has remarkable speed and if im not mistaken is pretty big for a fullback, around 6 feet? His passing is crisp he is great on the ball and I think hands down he is better than Mahini/Beitashour. Does anyone remember the game CQ tested him in? Id like to review it again.

Thankfully we are not in a part of the world where we meet only teams of Argentina's quality.

I think you need to go through a thread before making posts mate. While nobody denies his magnificent game vs. Argentina, the thread is NOT about a defender in the game vs. Argentina. It is assessing the qualities of fullbacks in Iran.
Which means looking at players from all angles and aspects of their game.
Which means assessing not only their defending, but also other aspects of a fullback's game, that include offense.

The second issue is when we comment on a player, it would be more valuable if we considered his performance in a considerable period. Not just a game or two or only of a short month.

Pouladi's defending is decent. This is not said based on one or two games. But considering a season or two. But I doubt he'd be able to replicate his argentine game often. Especially because HOPEFULLY we won't be parking the bus in every bloody game. Which means he will have offensive duties too. Not just stay within a small radius and head and block anything that gets near him.

In my opinion, Pouladi is a level above all of our other fullbacks.

He is most effective as a LWB or a LM.

Pooladi has always had good crosses TBH even in the Iran vs Uzbek game in Azadi.. Anyway how was Jamatis performance agianst Kuwait? hard to tell the only way I can personally judge someone quality is when they are in the main team and they play with the best.
