Shojaei had a good game, I'm proud of him and happy for him, seeing the smile of joy on his face after his goal really made me happy.
But note I said GOOD game, Kiarash you make it seem as he scored a hattrick and went Messi on their asses.
Really guys Shojai was invisible as usual for me except a few moments here and there!
as i expected he couldn't cope well with early fast pace and the physicality of the hacking bahraini team, he came alive really well in the 2nd half as in Argentine game when the game slowed down a bit, right before he was subbed..!! he also got a somewhat fortuitous goal from the CK to top off a great game for him, well by his own standards at least.
i still expected a lot more from him in terms connecting our D to Offense and making himself available in MF, especially in early first half..!!
btw
both goals came off CKs , which should tell you another thing about our inability to create chances from the run of play, if it weren't for Ashkan busting his chops, and forcing the issue offensively in MF we wouldn't have had Much if any..!!
i guess, considering it our weak preparations and this being the first game, this was an overall satisfying result ..? but certainly not good enough to inspire confidence of going deep into the playoffs ..!!
if we can muster a similar win vs UAE then there is some hope after all
honestly aside from the goal and a few flashes here and there he still didn't impress me. it was great to see the look of joy on his face when he scored, poor guy needed that release
Wait for the next games and we'll see what are the next excuses
No problemo. We are waiting for years so we can wait the upcoping games too
IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.
His happiness from scoring that goal said it all. MAde me really happy seeing him that excited, hopefully it further motivates him (ad CQ restrains from playing him on the wing and has him in the middle CAM position) if he starts in upcoming games. I don't know where his dribbling skill went though, he is suppoused to be one of the most skillful players on our team and it is non existant. He drew fouls well, gave good passes and covered good distance. He had one defensive blunder, and a few other issues here and there. He wasn't too visible, but he scored a goal which is graet! I would have taken him off earlier though he was fading away and JB could have been very beneficial this game had he played more. Hope Masoud keeps improving and is motivated to snag a few more goals for us!

True. One good match doesn't cancel so many bad performances in a row since years.
It is unfair to say X is god or below sh1t because one good/bad game. things should be seen on many games. If he keeps on the same level (which can be possible if he regain confidence) on the next matches, all the praises will be justified.
What he did today was just the minimal after deceiveing so much before.

Shojaie is just a player. Personally I have been very critical of his speed in the past. But I don't think he has done anything deceiving (if that is what you meant to write). Probably not the best choice of word here.

He deceived fans because he didn't deliver with TM while being good with his La liga teams (and having a long european career) at the same time or before.
I had a feeling Kiarash would bump up this thread lol....
He had a good game by his standards but its not saying a lot cause he has had lots of bad games for TM in recent years. I'll give him credit for having a good game and its nice to see the look of relief on his face after scoring but this one performance doesn't make up for all the bad games he has had recently. If he continues to have a good Asian cup then maybe we can have a serious talk about the merit of having him starting for TM. Until then, its too premature to try and gloat about his play after just 1 good performance.
I wish him a great Asian Cup and I hope he proves me wrong because when he plays well then TM plays well and TM is better.
He did 1 stupid thing today. That was the punch thank god the ref didn't see it. Might have been on accident but still stupid to go on someone like that.
Other than that he was solid, had good passes to right and left
Shojaei wasn't even bad in the World Cup as he could have scored for the 1:1 against Bosnia. But in general he had there some nice dribblings and passes too.
The point is everyone overextend whenever shojaei doing a mistake, then he is the worst and we should replace him... This is not true, Jalal Hosseini did lot more mistakes since the world cup but nobody saying anything because our defense in general was ok, not like our offensive line
