Very disappointing article from someone I hold to a much higher standard. Far too much bias.

No way in hell was that goal a foul. He needs to watch the replay again or get his eyes checked as Azmoun got to the ball FIRST and then later drew contact with the Korean goalkeeper.

Also how the hell does he honk we got dominated? By possession? By created open space by the Koreans? Well guess what mr. Durden....none of that stuff matters if you DONT DO anything with it. The team that does do something with it, just once, is the team that wins and we saw that 3 damn times in a row....how much more does one need to see it to understand it?

We had a fairly decent amount of chances too and decently put together counters. Also the no call on a handball was a gift to SK as well. Not to mention the ref being on their side for just about every whistle blown with the exception of our goal and perhaps one or two other instances.

However, I will say that I liked the time wasting that was brought up. It's becoming a bigger and bigger problem in our football that unfortunately ghalenoie's and Daie's teams in particular have been awful with. That really is something that is starting to kill our football....we're turning into Arabs in that aspect.

The game may have ended in a painful 1-0 defeat but if the benefits are seen in January then it really will have been a worthwhile trip."

Yeah right!!!Sounds like Whistling in the dark. As if the last 2 defeats helped you looser to improve your game. This is the weakest Korean team I have seen in the last decade. The problem is the way we play right now, we make any shitty team look superior.

It seems like I am in the minority here, but I really wouldn't call the end of the game grassrolling. Iran's players went down, but you would have to say the same about Korea's flopping (especially in the first half). 90% of clubs and national teams would do the same exact thing as Iran if holding onto a 1-0 lead with a somewhat equal or superior opponent. What a majority of Arab countries do is on a completely other level for time wasting. This being said, it still needs to be addressed.

Very one sided. He makes it seem like we got dominated. Honestly Korea was as bad as we were. But with all this aside, let hope CQ becomes a bit more attacking in the Asian cup.

Lol if that was time wasting then every team in the world are grassrollers.

Watch a Bundesliga game, EPL, Serie A, La Liga, any game in the WC, etc..... and you can find an example of what Azmoun did in every game you see.

If that was time wasting then how did the Koreans feel when they lost and tied in Beirut? What was that called?

We did not waste time in our game with Korea, anyone who says we did doesn't watch other leagues and teams nearly often enough

AW: John Duerden Article about the Iran vs. South Korea Friendly

We didn't grass role. Of course time was on our side and we wouldn't hurry. Comparing that to what Qatar and Bahrain are usually doing from first half on would be bullshit.

Also the goal was ok. Koreans couldn't get the ball away, gave away a freekick in dangerous position which was excellently struck, noone marked Azmoun and keeper was late. Yet they blame the ref.

John has been a supporter of Iranian football for years. Iran needs to show Asia its power this January. On the grass rolling..time wasting..YES! Its poor form. We are about as bad as the Arabs.

obviously we're not as bad as arab teams but we definitely have been doing it a LOT more in the last few years, and it's a disgrace.

Bullshit article, biased in every sense, TM was not dominated during the match, Korea was better in the first half. There was absolutly no grass rolling, and it was a 100% goal, Azmoun got faster to the ball than the goalkeeper without obstructing him. TM should have been given a 100% penalty. I just wasted my time reading a nonsense article, the writer should choose another profession, a commentator should be neutral in his report of a match, he's not a professional obviously.

Except for Azmoun?? Azmoun did not fake his injury... before he fell down holding his rib he fall down in the penalty box (before the pass to Omid Ebrahmi).

the problem with these writers is that they automatically assume the team that attacks more, is the better team. This is a mentality you would expect from a casual fan. An experienced football person would tell you that the game is played on both sides of the field, and if a team defends well, that means they are a good defensive team. Just go back to the great Italian teams which were famous for their defending.

Going back to the Iran-Argentina game vs. Iran-Bosnia game. We played a more attack-minded game against Bosnia and lost. Against Argentina, we defended ferociously, and actually counter attacked with very real chance of scoring, including an obvious missed penalty. I like to know who thought we actually played better against Bosnia than we did against Argentina ?

BTW, we did not grass roll. The more I read this article the more pointless it sounds to me. The proof is in the pudding - Sk has lost to TM three time in row.
