December 20th practice pictures... focus today was on speed, agility, ball control and crosses, albeit behind closed doors and after these 1st 15 minutes:

Come on Mansour jaan, calling sitting on your ass or lying on your back speed training would have been a REAL stretch (no pun intended) for me even if I had never done any sort of training.

These are just basic warm up and cool down exercises... sure you are right about agility and they do become very difficult and hurt like hell at the end, especially during cool down after you're already been practicing for 4 hours, done real speed/interval training and played a full game on top of it.

None of this is a big secret and to say that CQ has to do this because IPL coaches aren't doing it, is ridiculous IMHO. I was doing these with trainers and players who were involved in the league 30 years ago when the players had to drive taxis after the game to supplement their income.

We did these and MUCH tougher stretches for about 20 minutes, jogged 6-8 times around the field, then ran up and down a small hill for about 15 minutes, then high intensity speed/interval training for another 20 minutes or so (sprint 10 meters back, rest, then 20 meters, etc. to the midfield line), then we did ball control, shooting, crossing, passing exercises for about an hour, play a full game after that and then cool down with the same stretches!

And we did all that every other day and that was our training for a non-pro team! If you're telling me that the training regime for a team preparing for the Asian Cup should not even be as tough as a semi-recreational team, or that professional IPL players aren't training as hard as I did in a semi-recreational team with league trainers and players back in the days, then I really don't know what to say.

            ------------------

I just want to clarify that I was very happy with the pictures I was seeing from TM training camps from early 2013 until the end of the WC - coincidentally, that was the period in which TM was VERY successful.

Prior to that, when we were facing certain elimination from WCQ, the practice sessions looked exactly like they they do now, mellow, undisciplined, players just standing around chatting with each other or on their phones, lots of photo-ops and CQ sightings being very rare.

Accordingly, TM was performing extremely poorly in that period. It doesn't take omniscience, rather a lit of bit of insight to put 2 and 2 together and extrapolate future success based on hard work in the present.

Great to see Sardar doing some foam stretches. This indicates that he had done some sort of heavy resistance training earlier, and he's trying to speed up the recovery of his damaged muscle fibres by foam stretching.

It's good to know that he's is willing to add some muscle mass to his frame because this will in turn make him into a striker that can hold the ball up using his strength.

Mokhlesim Arya jaan. Thanks for the kind words.

Bi-Honar Aziz, I am not sure what your background is but sounds like you are aware of some of these trainings yet you refer to these pictures as "sitting on your behind" etc.

I do use some of these exact exercises to train my youngsters specifically for speed and agility. In fact I sometimes look at these pics to see if we do exact same or slightly different techniques. Some of these are taken directly from one of the most uptodate training exercises for improving speed and agility. It needs to be done on a daily basis for linear and multi-directional speed (alternating), about an hour or so with discipline and certain numbers.

And no, if IPL clubs were doing their jobs "correctly", we would see better speed and quality football in IPL, rather than "I am hurt stop the game", etc ... Speed, agility, and stamina are playing a main role in today's fast pace game. In Iran, we are still stuck with focusing only on one dimension of the game which is technique and to some extend, skill. Every other aspect of the game is way below international standard. I have some numbers that I am afraid I would bore you with to see how far today's football is gone in increasing speed and stamina compared to just ten years ago. But to keep it simple, the numbers are doubled or more in every different aspect. In IPL however, we are in a standing still "mode", if not decreased!

Any how, I respect your opinion that you are not happy with current staff or their approach to prepare the national team for a tournament. It is your every right. take care.
We thank and support Mr.Kamran Delan for many years of dedication and service to Iranian Football Community.
                      Go IRAN!

There was no news of it until now but Iran beat Platinum Stars fc in a friendly today 6-0.
                          Nouri (3) Shabbazadeh (1) Hassanzadeh (1) Gordani (1)
Last time this team played was saturday and they dont play until february so there was a chance it was their full team but i doubt it if Nouri can score a hat trick against them

Platinum Stars FC are in the relegation zone of South African Premier League, mashallah Nouri scoring a hattrick against South Africa's finest
