I dont understand why TM has to go to South Africa for such a camp. is it really worth it, CQ? our 5th division team in Zurich has better facilites than from what i saw of the SA camp...apart from that: might sound somewhat naive or not feasible, but how about fundraising from our part (iranians abroad) for our beloved TM? i just throw it into this discussion.

Wow...MR a staunch CQ supporter is now voicing what many have been saying for months. What happened? This is a joke it's no longer depressing. Depressing is calling our awful WC preparation and subsequent park the bus mentality as successful. You know you are in tough when Palestine, Syria, and Iraq with all their problems are having better preparations than us...Remember RESPECT BEGETS RESPECT & Zob Ahan

There's really no point complaining. It may be far from ideal but it is what it is. The Asian Cup is the platform that will determine whether we were actually prepared or not. If people are going to hold CQ responsible for any negative outcome, you might as well wait until we've actually failed.

Remember CQ and IFF playing up the opposition, as if we were playing gods, and downplaying our chances and resources. This is the wrong way to approach sport...you must install confidence, practice your hardest, and try your best...I don't think Orlando Pirates and KC Chiefs were the best opposition available for our prepatory needs. I am doubtful S. Africa was even the best place for our camp...much cheaper venues were available with similar climate and better opposition. Heck camp in Qatar would have even been better than this! When are we as a footballing nation going to demand success?
As for the national team, most people on this very forum were talking about how we've become a tier three Asian side after our 2010 WCQ failure followed by the QF loss to S. Korea in the 2011 Asian Cup. As ali alipour mentioned, for the first time in a good number of years, we're being treated as one of the favourites. Even those who believed that we were a tier three Asian side now believe that we're the best in Asia and anything below 1st place in the Asian Cup is a failure.
Yes, the opposition may not be at the caliber of that which Japan and Korea are facing but you can't compare apples and oranges. For all their preparation for the WC, neither Japan nor Korea looked as organized or organized as our side. Each also played a match with a one match advantage for the most part (Japan against Greece and Korea against Belgium) and both failed to capitalize.
If you're worried about Team Melli's progression, then we've already come along way from the 2007-2011 years and are still getting better. If it's our football's progression that worries you, then there are more daunting issues like the overall management of the league, youth programs, and infrastructure to worry about. There's also the issue of all the money that is constantly being stolen but nobody really addresses anymore.

Theres also a mini camp in australia left and 2 more full squad friendlies. This is probably one of the best preparations ive seen Iran have since following them so preparation shouldnt be an excuse really.

I am not necessarily connecting my following views to today's case, but we have to, once and for all, stop saying ''let x fail, and only then we are allowed to criticize or find alternatives or change things''
It is like some of us have absolutely no idea about existence of a term like ''PREVENTION''.
So we are against warnings like ''danger of electrocution'' or ''danger, poison'' and just want to carry on putting our hands into the bloody socket, or drink the bloody liquid .... and wait. If it ends on death, then making a frowning face, we can say ''oops, sorry'' or ''bad man.... you bad, bad man'', waving our finger!!!!
A little visit to dictionary and checking under terms like ''prevention or preventive'' would be very enlightening
