This is like posting a video from that same Asian Cup showing us losing to Iraq 2-1 and then use it as proof that we suck! None of this has anything to do with a goddamn coach trying to take the underdog motivation away from the opposing coaches.

I dont understand this comment. Why would he say it? How would this motivate the team? Is he setting up an excuse in case things fail? I would say preparation wise these teams are the favorites, but our team is actually a team. We have actual players, not these guys. I am not saying we will walk over them easily like before, they gave us troubles in WCQ, but there is no doubt in my mind we will beat all three of them.--------------------------Beiranvand-------------------

We're just trying to see where and when comments like the ones CQ made have happened, and happened often enough to be typical as some of you suggest. I don't disagree with what you posted here and didn't need any examples of it. But just because something is not white, it doesn't mean it's definitely black.
Since you are struggling to find examples of what I requested and I'm pretty sure you won't find any, let me give you the only example that I remember that was along the same lines as this. Before their semi final match against Spain in the 2010 WC, Lowe said that Spain is the better team or best team in the world - don't remember the exact words, but it went way beyond just the usual you have to respect your opponent.
Germany was coming off a serious drubbing of Argentina and had all the momentum going into this match. They absolutely shocked everyone by playing one of their worst ever games. They lacked confidence, looked completely lost and had nothing to show for in the game. They didn't even look like Germany. In other words, they took what Lowe said and played it out on the field as a self fulfilling prophecy or a self imposed handicap.

I'm not going 100% in any direction. I'm simply pointing out that this idea that he's "demoralizing" the team by playing up the opponents in public and portraying his traditional powerhouse team as an underdog would not sound strange to anyone who follows sports. I already gave the Bierhoff example and I'm not going to sit here and google more when the point is made. Offside cited another example from the same world cup on this very page.
I'm not unconditionally pro CQ and would have no problem changing my mind based on the coming cup. The problem is some on this site have decided this guy sucks or is a coward or hates team melli and god knows what else and they've been grasping at every straw as some sort of proof. You even tried to blame the Palestine cancellation on CQ because he was on Christmas vacation when they cancelled and wouldn't have been there "to greet" the Palestinians...as if it's some sort of custom anywhere on the planet for a coach to personally welcome a team coming in for a friendly.
I think it's been made more than clear by now why the underdog comment is not what some are interpreting it to be. But if it has to be interpreted that way to prove that CQ is a coward who hates his team or he's making excuses because he sucks, by all means buddy, be my guest. I'm signing off for tonight.

we play with gheyrat against these teams. even if our players didn't have enough training or friendlies, we still beat them. anyway, the point is, we shouldn't even worry about these teams.Team faghat PERSPOLIS

Also, can someone tell me when a NT manager wore a shirt with a picture of the opposing team's manager wearing the 3rd place teams jersey in the final game of a WC qualification stage.........during an away game!!
If you can't then CQ shouldn't have ever done that before the match.راه یکی است و آن راستی است

I like CQ, but I think there are limits when it comes to mind games. We should not belittle ourselves.
We are, ultimately, ranked number 1 in Asia. We have not had many friendly matches, but we also have a squad that is fresh off the high-pressure environment of a World Cup. That is the ultimate preparation and experience for any squad. At the World Cup, we played well against the African Champions and the second-best team in the world.
Qatar, Bahrain and the UAE have never experienced the World Cup or anything like it. This sort of talk goes too far, in my opinion.Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

Unfotynately I think he means it. It is a tough groupe for Iran because
1- Arabs are known to do what ever to eleminate They will help each other to send two Arabic nations to NeXT round
2- The best Iranian players are now playing in Arabic Leagues and are known by Arabs. Montazeri is injured ..
3- They have prepared better than Iran.
