^ I don't know if you want to mix 2 weeks of prematch talk with live report. Will have 100 pages before the match even begins...

Thank you Kiarash jaan. As MR already said, let's have a pre-match thread to keep this one clean:

We will open this thread again few days before the match.

Bahrain's coach is an amateur assistant coach who took over a month ago...their best player plays in the second division of Qatar, not to mention they are going through their worst generation of players.

This is a must must must must must win, no excuses for King Carlos and our players.

Even if we spent the last month tanning at the beaches in Sydney, there is no excuse not to win this game.

              Come on Iran...

Even with our U-15 team we should be able to beat Bahrain.

That's a bit of a stretch haha... I would say our B team that played Iraq should be capable of matching Bahrain.

but with a frontline of Dejagah JB Gucci and Neko/Ando/Shojaei(or Hajsafi) behind them, we should beat this team.

If i remember correctly, the game we beat Bahrain 6-0, our front line was Meydavoodi/Khalabari/Ghazi...

It will be interesting what CQ is going to opt for! More offensive, or the same defensive approach like in the WC?

The first half will probably be boring and conservative from both teams since its the first game of a tournament. We cannot lose any points in this game.

I think we will start with something like Haghighi, Pouladi, Hosseini,Sadeghi, Heydari, Ando, Neko, Shojaei, JB, Gucci,Dejagah.

He might also push Shojaei upfront and start Hajsafi...while benching JB. Who knows? Lets wait and see...

The national team from Bahrain - a largely Islamic island country located in the Persian Gulf between Saudia Arabia and Iran - has been sticking to a tight schedule including two training sessions each day, as well as strict meal, prayer and rest times.
Bahrain Football Association president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa says their regional Victorian host city has helped boost confidence ahead of the competition.
"We felt a warm welcome from the people of Ballarat," he said.
"All of the players are happy to have had this experience in this wonderful city, we've had two good friendly games with two positive results."
Bahrain opens against Iran in Melbourne on Sunday.
Despite being the lowest ranking team in the group at 122, Shaikh Ali said the players are in good spirits.
"There's a good confidence buzz throughout the team," he said.
"Ballarat is a city of gold, hopefully we will grab something gold at the end of this tournament."
An official exchange of gifts been team officials and the Ballarat City Council took place to mark the farewell.
The team was presented with a book about Ballarat, a photo and pins.
In return the council was given a signed team jersey and miniature replica of a national Bahrain monument.
The $8.6 million Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility development was a key part of attracting the team.
Ballarat Mayor John Phillips says the investment has proven to be worthwhile.
"There's always value for the city of Ballarat to have international teams here," he said.
"But to also know that the soccer facilities that we're building meet the needs of those levels of teams, so that we know that in the future we'll be able to host more teams."

We are currently witnessing a revolution in Iranian football. Team Melli has never been stronger than it is today, and we will only get better.

Many people expect a boring half and for Bahrain to trouble Iran till the end with possibly winning only 1-0.

However, many of you guys are mistaking that CQ is no Ali Daei, QN, or Ghotbi. He's been with TM for almost 4 years and he has the star players ready for these upcoming encounters. I'm sure he knows how important it is to score a quick goal in this game and finish it off later on for a moral boosting winning heading into the other two tougher oppositions (Qatar & UAE)

I don't expect him to do an all out attack but something like he tried against Iraq with the B team but this time chances will be put away by Dejagah, Gucci, Jahanbakhsh, etc. Nothing against Amiri but the poor lad had a fantastic game for a debut but was just nervous with those two chances he should have scored. Same goes for Ghafouri.

                          2-0 Iran

Bahrain will soon park the bus when they notice Iran coming at them. It might take Iran till 30-40min to take the lead. After that, they need to keep their composure not to concede and counter the shit out of Bahrain and hopefully get more goals. This is IF Iran takes their chances well in 1st half. If not it must be incredibly bad luck because I don't see likes of Gucci, Dejagah, or Jahanbakhsh missing many chances.

I understand how many of the members here are saying that Iran could choke getting a draw or loss worst case scenario due to nervousness, short-prep, and first game jitters but let's not forget it will be mostly the same first 11 that performed so well against Nigeria (1st game) and Argentina and kept a clean sheet for that long and had the better of chances in those games until Messi showed why he's one of the best players in the world. I know Iran has had a history of struggling against the Persian Gulf teams but I believe CQ has been with TM long enough to know how to command his players in these type of fixtures.

PS: Don't forget how Iran was so unprepared compared to S. Korea who had played 4 friendlies prior to their friendly meeting in Azadi in November. Any other team with the lack of friendlies would have lost to S. Korea by a few goals but Iran beat them. Only if our team could one day have proper funding/preparations, Iran would easily be top 20 in the world. These talented lads are overachieving so much and showing their true potential considering the lack of the mentioned matters that other teams in Persian Gulf and East Asia have. Kudos to CQ as well.

Fingers crossed. Let's go IRAN! God I've never been this excited for Asian Cup. Wish I was there down under to witness it in real life!

Although we had a very very bad preperation i somehow have a feeling we will trash Bahrain. My Prediction is 4:0. Now lets wait till Sunday and see if i was right ya teamo chesh zadam.
Anyways a clear win, not necessarely 4:0 but something like 2:0 or 3:1 would be such a moral booster for the boys. Cant wait anymore
