See what Australian players say about TM (Video)

In contrast with Korean people, players and fans the Aussies are way classier about Iran. Although they have even worse memories thanks to Iran (WCQ 1997), they still see us as a respectable side.

Tim Cahill, the captain of Australia NT was cheering for Iran during the World Cup.

Dejagah, Nekounam etc should be considered Asian stars, no?
But I guess he has a point, our captain play in the 2nd division of Spain (although he still is la liga quality IMO), while Japan has like 8 players in the Bundesliga alone.

I think this is about wc 2014 and not the asian cup

Absolutely not! In 1997 they had so many headlines during the two games about how retarded we are and they did not want their players in Tehran. There is nothing classy about the Australians.

They also showed real class during our game there by tearing the net.
.... At the end I am nothing other than ordinary

Instead of calling that guy classless, we should be thanking him. He is an Iranian hero. Chances are, we most likely would have not won that game if he didn't tear up the net, that really killed the momentum of the game (Azizi said this too).

Aussies are not classy at all. They may perhaps be better than the South Koreans but that doesnt say much. Aussies still have that anti-Iran attitude that most Western countries have. They also have that 'white man's burden' mentality and they see many non-white/western cultures and countries as being uneducated and backward minded. My cousin lives in Australia and he has encountered blatant racism many times.

But back to this video... these players don't seem to know much about team meli. All they said was pretty generic stuff and that can accurately apply to a lot of teams.

Good to see they know what we're capable of but how can they make us sound like we are unknown and don't have some big name players??? Especially for asian standards??? They don't sound too well informed IMO, enough to know a little bit about us but clearly not enough.

Its funny how most top teams consider us underdogs when compared to Japan, Korea and Australia but the irony is that we rarely lose to these sides!!! its the smaller teams that really scares me!!

They seemed like they tried to keep it classy and respectful in the video (disregarding their comments in '98). & I doubt Cahill was rooting for us during the WC...

I was at the MCG that day and lived in Australia then. Those that call Aussies classless have no idea. The Aussies are the most sporting nation in the world. Even after a bitter defeat, even when they should have won by 4 clear goal, even when the 5000 Iranian out of the 80,000 celebrated wildly not one Aussie suporter said a word to us, they just quietly left and went home. I can guarantee anywhere else in the world we would have a few fights on our hands and would have been beaten up.
