If CQ intention was to become popular he would've invited karimi and rahmati before WC. You should know him by now that he doesn't give a flying potatoes what other people think of his decisions.
I read online somewhere that he was upset that they bought him an economy ticket while all other coches we're flying first and business. I would be pretty upset too and as a matter of fact I got into an argument with my boss when he bought me a ticket with a stopover for work.

That's not what I said!
I never said he was concerned about his own popularity!
He was concerned about renewing his contract!
Before WC he had a contract already why would he care
Besides, look at the pattern he treated Karimi... in the begining, while he was still negotiating his contract, he would give Karimi small jobs such as looking to find talented players.. . little by little he reduced his responsibilities, until last week when he told him he can watch the game from the stands!
Besides, look at what Karimi wrote on his web site... that sentence says it all...he didn't need to say more... we are either able to read between the lines or not..

He was given an absolute gift starting his coaching career as an assistant for the national team, along side Carlos?!!! And he gives it up... And he also leaves the team right before the AC... come on.. I am extremely disappointed in him.

there was that one moment during the Iran vs. South Korea game where CQ was giving directions from the sideline, when Karimi suddenly appeared on his left side and surprised CQ. Maybe it was nothing, but I somehow felt that CQ wasn't happy about it.

Karimi needs to understand that the assistant coaching job is no different than any other job and just because he was a star as a player doesn't mean that he knows the job. He still has alot to learn and somehow I feel he doesn't want pay his dues.

This guy has been nothing but a drama queen both as a player and now as a coach. It doesn't matter what his reasoning is for quitting. The simple fact that he quit the team right before the second most important tournament possible for team meli means Karimi is wrong. He wasn't even qualified at all to be a coach for team meli and this is what he does with this opportunity.

He has a massive ego which consistently leads him to act like a big time bache naneh.

there are two sides to everything..for one thing i know that karimi never even got an offer nor a contract to be a tm coach and on top of it he didnt even get the same tickets as the other coaching staff so this basically means he is not in the coaching staff.now for the rest of us it is still an honor just to be beside the team and hang around tm but this is ali karimi for god sake. he should not have been treated in this way and if i.f.f wanted him there then why treat him like a ball boy? why not give him the contract and the respect he deserves?!

Well if anyone wanted to discredit AK8 among people they pulled out the best plan ever. AK8's biggest mistake was accepting a loosy goosy position with TM, the most political position in Iran sports.
