Don't know where to post this, so I'll post here. If you guys didn't read this ESPN article, John Duerden again wrote about Iran. Here is what he had to say:
"The styles are different too. Iran, have been impressive while not really impressing. They've been solid with three wins, no goals conceded and are full of confidence. They're looking ominous with a coach who is focused only on this tournament. Carlos Queiroz is not interested in building a team for the future, he simply wants to win here and now. Iran have the ability -- a vital one in a tournament -- to win when not playing well, which something that is not shared by all of the other seven side in the knockout stage."
First, how the f*ck are we not building for the future? We have already brought 3 new players into the team, Sardar, Pouraligangi, and Ghafouri. Also, in our game with UAE, we started Amiri, Rafaei, and Jahanbakhsh. Did he even watch the game?
I think he wants to excuse Korea being eliminated tonight or against us on Sunday as being because Iran is not planning for the future, while Korea is. What a b**ch. We are using many new players, and he is talking out his ass when he says that Iran isn't.
Second, he says we're the only team that doesn't play well? South Korea and Iraq also looked like sh*t in every group stage match, yet they won and exited their groups. He must be high or something. All he wants to do is insult Iran and make it seem like it is some sort of miracle we made it.
He should rewatch his Korean's matches where Oman and Kuwait nearly scored multiple goals on them and they were saved by the crossbar more than a few times.
Iran hasn't had a team shoot the ball on target yet, but we are the ones playing poorly yet still winning.
Sorry we can't hold the ball in our backfield and pass between our defenders like Korea and UAE, John. I know that possession is all that matters these days. Not the goals we have soorakhed Korea with in recent times. All people remember is the possession, not Iran topping Korea 4 times in a row.

If anyone could have scored against us until now it would have been UAE or even Qatar. Iraq is far from having the weapons to penetrate our defense and if we concede against this team then this defensive football style is definitely not for us, certainly not against weaker teams than us on paper. The only real threat is if god forbid we fail to finish our chances and they manage to drag us to penalties, which should not happen with the caliber of players we have in front.
And start Gucci.
