we barely scraped by Gutter, and UAE..! we actually were somewhat dominated by UAE regardless of last gasp winner ..!
were somewhat fortuitous to tie Iraq Twice after falling behind, both times again from set pieces..!!

how can you guys just assume and claim that we were easily capable of getting past SK for the 4th time and beat the host Australia for the title..!!?????


perhaps, it could have been somewhat probable to make the Final, but personally highly doubt we had the goods to Beat Australia ..!! they were clearly the best team in the tourney and also had a home-field advantage..!!

on the question of the Thread ; the answer is a resounding YES
It was obvious that PK scenario was well rehearsed pre tourney(game)

those were some of the best seemingly pre-planned -Scored PK's ive ever seen from any TM
most all were Placed High and to either sides of the Keeper..

we just choked on the first one , mostly because its the most nerve wrecking ; and here CQ fked up with his rotation decision by sending the nervous Haj Safi, with a flair for often skying his shots. Neku shoulda been the first taker, most any other coach woulda have him take the first PK and with him likely scoring and Iraq missing their first kick, we likely coulda won that PKShootOut and moved on.

the only other problem with our PKSH was Haghighi's terrible overall performance in it..!! Not so sure if that can be blamed on coaching...!! the usually animated and confident AliReza seemed nervous and scared as fk ..!! didnt see any necessary gamesmanship from him to unnerve the iraqi PK taker and too many early dives to wrong sides and not coming even close to saving any of the 7 pks.

regardless of the narrow miss by Amiri, it was a pretty decent attempt , he did beat the keeper but the post came to his rescue..! which was something that was naturally bound to happen that late into the PKSH..!
