I'm calling this now, Korea eliminated in the QF's by Uzbekistan. That will be the shocker of the tournament. Uzbeks will make a final 4 appearance again.

UZ is in exact situation as Iran last Asian cup. Iran won it's group with 3 win but had to face either South Korea or Australia next round.
Ghotbi prefered Australia but South Koreans prefered Iran. Iran lost But UZ went to next round.
But If UZ win Australia or south Korea they can also win Iran. I don't know how strong UZ has become but winning Australia in Australia means they are stronger than us.

What makes you think I dont support my team?
I was just making a prediction. I was predicting Australia to win Asia Cup before this match. This match just confirmed that they have young energetic and highly creative players.

Okay, then I predict Kuwait to win the whole thing based on their performance tonight. It's ridiculous to predict a winner based on one game and a gut feeling. Sarcasm by the way, but I have to point out that making a prediction based on one game is obnoxious. If we beat Bahrain 10-0 on Sunday, will you change your prediction back to Iran or will you stick with Australia? It's one game, and you haven't seen anyone else play. How can you make a bold prediction? That's why 5 people jumped on you right after you made your prediciton.

My gut feeling will be with Iran until they either lift the trophy or are eliminated. Predicting any other team to win is not going to happen. But you can "support" Iran any way you want. If Iran is eliminated, I won't even care to find out who wins. I will stop watching the tournament. That's how I support Iran. I care about Iran only, and say f*ck off to every other team.

On the Korea/Australia topic, I'd want to play Korea. We are at least familiar with them. I know it would be cool to play a new team and test ourselves, but the boys have a mental edge on Korea.

They may get nervous playing a team they've never played before. For entertainment value, I pick Aussies. For a higher chance of succeeding, I pick Korea. CQ is in there head as Saudis used to be in our heads. I say we ride the "luck" or us just being better than them until it runs out. Take a risk on playing a new team in Japan in the final. Two tough games in a row against unfamiliar teams like Australia and Japan may be too much. Korea would be the path of least resistance in my mind.

EDIT: IF any of the teams make it that far. The final four could be Iran-Jordan-Saudis-Oman. We literally haven't seen any of these teams play in a tournament setting in years, and we are writing them all off. I am just confident in my team, and am happy we are playing teams like Qatar and Bahrain who we have played recently in competitive matches.

The last time we played a completely random Asian team in a friendly (Oman) they caught us off guard and beat us. Familiarity with your opponent is key. Also the media around the games consistently bringing up "Iran won the last ______ meetings with this team" makes the opponent feel weak coming in. Like they are the worse team, but have to prove themselves to be better. This is a lot of pressure and can lead to mistakes. Iran seems to have low pressure in this tournament, so hopefully we can execute a gameplan and go as far as we deserve, which in my mind is at LEAST the semi-final. Anything less would be bad-luck, as we have shown ourselves to be a power house of the region in recent years after a slump in the 2009-2011 years.
