    countries i support:
    1) australia: because home countries are always fun to watch, i hope they go far; iran-australia final would be incredible, and possibly the only side that i wouldn't feel terribly if they beat iran in the final (home teams and home fans deserve to be happy)
    2) japan: because generally they're not as annoying as SK, and more fun to watch, generally more professional
    3) uzbekistan: because i hope central asian football gets stronger and we can leave these idiot arab countries in the "west asian" area and make a central asian conference
    4) oman: out of the arab countries, probably my favorite in the style of their football and they gave us a real run for our money in '04 in a challenging way
    5) palestine: not for any political reasons, i just like it when the minnows do well. i saw how happy their fans were when they won the afc challenge cup, or e.g. how happy afghan fans were when they won something in sports (?cricket) and i just like to see minnows surprise people or at least hold their own. maybe the way we did vs argentina.

    countries i don't support:
    1) saudi arabia
    2) qatar: would be sweet to see a 1st round exit, just to highlight how absurd their automatic qualification to the WC is
    3) bahrain: yeah.
    4) china: AC04. Never Forget. Never Forgive.
    5) north korea: because playing against a 10-1-0 system is so utterly boring

What does this drivel have to do with the Thread?

After Iran I support (in a very very very distant second):

Australia cause it is the land of my birth and has provided me the best life in the best city in the world.

Palestine...If only you could see the joy on the face of all my Palestinian friends you would just smile. They are so proud of their team for just being here and have been posting some truly positive things on Facebook. Even after the Japan game they were so proud.

Japan: Much respect for the way they play. So professional. Will be tough opponents. They also have the best anthem in the world. Its something like 1-2000 years old and I love it every time I hear it.

I support Iran, Japan, Australia, South Korea, and Uzbekistan. Only these teams have enough quality to win the whole thing in my mind. Some may say Uzbekistan is not that great, but I definitely think they have shown that them winning is not too farfetched. They have won me over as a respectable team. They do usually flop in do-or-die situations, but when they overcome that, they may be a force to be reckoned with in Asian football.

I used to always support South Korea except when they played us, but not anymore! Actually I want them to get beaten bad as much as possible!
And that is ever since that Egg-Fart-Smelling Coach during WCQ2014 destroyed a century of a long healthy rivalary between Iran and South Korea with his comments!
That idiot now created a sort of war between Iran and South Korea, to the extend that even during the friendly game in Tehran (lol friendly) it was visible.
I can never forget what that S Korean coach, you know that Egg-Fart-Smelling, and their jerky hair styled captain did to us and what folowed after we qualified. SHAME on S KOREA!
no more support from me.. hopefully Australia beats the shit out of them!

Uzbekistan.....although they are under achieves I think we can all relate to how shitty it is to have bad luck in our national team. They've had probably some of the worst luck out of all asian countries over the last 10 years in both the AC and in WCQS. They play good and clean football which isn't something easy to come across in Asia. They are the only other team I somewhat root for in Asia. Don't mind japan and Australia either since they have quality players, infrastructure, facilities, etc. and are a model for the rest of Asia,

The rest I don't really care very much for.
              Team Meli Iran
              Perspolis FC
              Malavan Bandar Anzali

This is a bit off topic but aside from the issue of who else I support in AC '15, I wanted to say what team I think would be guaranteed to be successful this tournament: Today I saw a statistical analysis study by an Australian science magazine which concluded in almost all cases of world soccer tournaments, the host country outdid or equaled their "best immediately prior" standing. For Australia this means at least a second-place finish since that is what they got last time when they were not the hosts. So if the scientific study is reliable, I prefer if Iran could avoid Australia in the semifinal (assuming Iran even gets that far.)

Iraq and maybe a bit of Uzbekistan. I don't know why!
.... At the end I am nothing other than ordinary

My heart and soul is always with Iran.

But I'll support our fellow Persian cousins of Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

Then I would go for Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria.

                            Top:
                            - Uzbekistan (same reasons earlier depicted, one of the unluckiest teams in the last WCQ rounds, and because they're culturally closer to us)
                            - Iraq (love and hate relationship, country in war, loved when they beat KSA in the 07 final, + Shia link)
                            - North Korea (have some pity...), Australia (home side and have a few Australian buddies) and Oman (the least worst Arabs to me)

                            Against:
                            - Saudi (no need to explain)
                            - Qatar (For their unfair share of the South Pars field)
                            - South Korea (a new rivalry is born)

Iraq (I have loads of Iraqi friends and they are really kind towards us Iranians since the war) and Palestine.
