POST-MATCH DISCUSSION | vs. Bahrain - Asian Cup 2015

Don't know if its been discussed yet but did anyone notice how bad Dejagah was at set pieces. We had so many freekicks and corner opportunities to score. The two that we did score were corners via Ando's crosses, not Dejagah's. Why not let Neko take the close range freekicks, and Ando send in the curlers. Maybe when Dejagah's more consistent he can take a whack, but until then I think we're better off if he leaves it to the Veterens.

And on the 8.Day God created Ali Karimi, and he saw he was good!

It was a great game for team meli. Haji Safi's goal was a stunner. It could very well be the game of the tournament. I think the best player this game was Dejagah. Also at least one of the offside calls against Iran was wrong and the goal was legitimate. It really should have ended 3-0 for us.

the point he had about the ref, and the australian commentators also mentioned this during the game was that too many times the australian ref got into LONG discussions with the bahrainis which ended up killing the attacking momentum we had. The bahrainis ofcourse were more than happy to have one discussion after another just to slow down the game. I dont think the Arabs are colluding. In fact, it looked like Qatar thought their mickey mouse tournament win would give them a win versus every Arab team. Arab collusion has levels and is not universal. Bahrain never helps Qatar, UAE only helps Saudi, Qatar helps Jordan/Saudi. Qatar/UAE is a supposed derby. Bahrain has a 40% chance of beating UAE in my opinion. UAE only did well against Qatar because the Qatari midfield is small and technical. UAE would struggle in a physical matchup in Bahrain.

the site shows various iran-bahrain short videos/pics from the crowd and post game activities outside the stadium. pretty cool if you have some extra time to browse.

There is no reason why Iran couldn't become a football player export nation if players look elsewhere.
In Asia: Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, Singapore (I think several Iranian played there in the past, incl. some high caliber ppl),
Eastern Europe: Russia, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan. Turkey would also be a good destination.
South America: any country.
YES! I agree with you on that, the quality of TM would improve if we became like Croatia/Serbia/Brazil, i.e. football exporting country to 'lesser' leagues and continents outside the elite leagues of Western Europe. Look at Algeria's amazing goalkeeper in the WC, he played in Bulgaria the previous season. And Australia have a lot of players in China/S Korea.
its kind of like the NBA and European basketball - obviously it would be great if Iranian basketballers went to NBA, but for those who can't then playing in the Euro leagues is still great and will develop our basketball.
