I have a couple of comments after the game. First of all , a more than acceptable opening match by the guys. They show that they win games and they 've clearly a defensive tactic that Quieroz have chosen , as usual. We got started after about 30 minutes and the goal before half time allows one to relaxe early in the second .

I did not like that they Iran adapted a defensively a la Argentina tactic when leading 1-0 against Bahrain, they let the opponent attack and even though Bahrain didnt take advantage, only a slip up is requiered it's 1-1 . Quieroz should start with JB who can help offensively. It is after 60th minutre or so where Shojaei should be subbed in and go with his tactical play , annoy opponents and dragging on free kicks .

All in all , good game and we will advance from the group. PS what an incredible crowd and kudos to the commentators of Livesport.tv!

Bahrain had very technical players, but as usual they could not get through TM defense. I did not like how TM starts every game (three so far). I takes them sometime to settle in. If not very attractive, TM still played well.

Haghighi has a great game also. He had one hell of a save and throughout he was pretty confident. ran over that bahraini player like a stray dog )))))

Good victory ...but the team needs to show a more fluid football.. we are still not able to pass the ball accurately. Aussies will own us like this!

Great team work. It was awesome to the the boys have total control and create many chances. Ashkan is truly amazing with great moves and works well without the ball as well. Everyone did good and scoreboard was justified.
I am sure Qatar with come at us with all they got but I am positive CQ has grand plans.

UAE-Qatar tie was the best result for us. I have a feeling that we will go into the last match day of the group needing a win against UAE. That will be tough, but I believe in our boys. Crossing my fingers for Bahrain to upset or tie UAE.

Dejagah was most valuable in the game but pouraliganji and ghafouri were solid players

I think its realistic to say that Iran won't concede at all in the next two games.

I have to admit that I was a big time Masoud hater but in my opinion it was warranted because he continuously had terrible games for TM. But todays game was one of his best games ever. He was fantastic today and he deserves credit for that. His only mistake was the clearence attempt he tried to make early in the first half in front of our goal.

Ashkan is an absolute beast, great work ethic and he has REALLY good pace. He left Bahrain's defense in the dust several times. He had a good game, the only knock on him is that he sometimes holds on to the ball for too long and tried to go through too many defenders or passes the ball when its too late. But I love how he gave 100% effort on every ball. He didn't take a single minute off to relax.

Other players that also had pretty good games were Haji Safi and Ghafouri.


TM over all was good. I wish they would have tried to go for a third goal because goal difference will be huge factor on whether we finish 1st or 2nd which is very important considering 2nd place will likely get out Japan. Qatar really opened up its asshole for UAE (just like what they did for Uzbekistan during WC qualification to try and get TM eliminated). I can totally see Bahrain doing the same for UAE while Qatar will do everything it can to make sure they give us a hard test when we play them. TM kind of let its foot of the gas in the last 15-20 minutes. Hopefully in doesnt come back to haunt us.

Over all, we got the 3 points and a 2 goal win. I am happy with this. No one in TM had a particularly bad game which is also a good sign. Doorood bar TM! Onto the next one.

Dont worry we will beat UAE 1-0.

Dejagha just edging PAG for me due to his incredible efforts to single handily running our offense early in the game, and not letting up till he was subbed..!! just wished his final touch/shot was better today..! sometimes he held the ball too long too

Given our first game and lack of friendlies, as expected TM started nervously with miss passes, but slowly gained grounds. We should improve game-by-game. I don't expect changes against Qatar.

It will be interesting to see how Qatar would respond to a terrible start and massive defeat by UAE.

This is perfect. I expect the last game to decide the Group 1st and second, some way to go but I expect UAE's better goal difference would mean that we have to win it whilst a tie would be adequate for them.

It's sad - we're the only team in the tournament who has to use tournament games as preparation games
