I don't know what to make form this group. I can't see any of the teams scoring against us in all honesty. However, I worry our counter attacking is not strong enough yet, and we also need to work on headers from set pieces a bit more. We can't afford to settle late into the game against Qatar or UAE, we need a goal to shut them off completely right away. Don't let the 4-1 UAE score scare you though, honestly, Qatar's defense was non existant that game and UAE wasn't deserving of a 4 goal game. It will be tough games ahead as both teams are better than Bahrain, however its good to see despite losing Montazeri our defense has adapted. the areas we need to work on are clear, and we have a few days to practice and anlayze Qatar. Their goalie plays well against us, and he is really good off corner kicks (so counter attacking must be strong if we want to score against him). Best of luck to TM in upcoming days, good win today. Lots to take away.

Man of the match= the crowd today at the stadium kudos to them, we were playing in Azadi today

Overall and considering the opposition, TM played a fair game, Bahrain had more possession and tried everything, mind you they are the weakest team in the group.

I really would like to seem some one touch passing but considering our preparation I don't blame the team. I felt Reza was out muscled today and hopefully we have two forwards in the next game so he has more space.

I agree though that Shojaei played well. I have always said that Shojaei's quality lies in his game against open opponents. When we play in WCQ, all the teams play packed defense, since the qualification is such a marathon.

Here, Bahrain was actually attacking a lot instead of packing the box to get the tie. Shojaei was able to run in that free space and draw a lot of fouls.

Not a great game overall, but it's Shojaei doing what he is supposed to do.

I reaaaaally hope he will be sat against Qatar though. Qatar is going to pack the box for sure. We need youth and speed and to play them the way UAE played them tonight. Tonights team was slow up front and in transition.
I dont think that Qatar will sit back and defend. You saw how Bahrain started this game, I dont think that Qatar will risk conceding a goal by defending all too much, they could risk elimination.

Haghighi--- Super Solid, very glad to have him, didnt make any mistakes. Also very glad he bulldozed that shithead that fouled our players like 10 times.

Hosseini-- Most consistent player ever. No mistakes, was active.

PAG--- Very impressed, good on the ball, energetic, will get better with more experience.

Pouladi-- Pretty good, nothing good or bad really.

Ghafouri---- Excellent work rate, just like Hajsafi, he combined well with dejagah and has blistering sprint speed, he totally smoked the bahrainis a few times, also, his crosses are low and dangerous, azmoun could connect with them and cause serious issues.

Ando-- In much better form than against SK. His 2 CK's lead to our goals, and his FK were on point as well, he was very effective on his side of the field, unfortunately the left side was a little bit empty as javad was sitting a bit back.

Nekounam--- Good game, distributed well, would have liked a shot or two from him

Hajsafi--- Very active, finally in the right position, fantrastic goal with his wrong foot, his first goal was also great and was offside by less than a foot.

Dejagah--- Quality as usual, a bit slow to pass today however, also wish he would have scored that sick pass from shojaei.

Shojaei--- Made several very nice passes and switches, also a well placed goal. Definitely earned a starting spot. didnt mess up much besides that one header.

Gucci-- worked hard but I saw the rust today, Azmoun could have gotten on those crosses.

Azmoun--- wasnt bad and could be more effective to connect with ghafouris crosses.

JB-- to be fair he didnt get much time at all but he showed good energy despite not seeing much of the ball.

Summary----> our rust and lack of friendlies showed in the first 35 minutes, we were awful and lucky not to concede. We played very well the last 15 minutes and the first 35 of the second half. After we went up 2-0 we sat back much more than I would have liked, which also didnt give sardar and JB much of the ball.

Overall it seems that during that 50 minute period we had good passes, good use of our wingers, and dangerous attacks. we also won many many corners.

I believe that we will get better as the tournament goes on, and it is significant to note that Bahrain is much stronger than I expected, they are better than kuwait oman and qatar if you ask me, I think the game between uae and bahrain might end in a surprise. UAE played well but qatar was pitiful. Im predicted we go through with UAE/Bahrain.

We will play in rain against Qatar according to the forecast. I have a feeling we might have a hard time scoring in the rain as other teams have in Sydney. I'm highly anticipating UAE destroying Bahrain, because the Arab brothers will sacrifice themselves to allow the other the chance to top Iran in the group.

                My predictions: Iran 1-0 Qatar
                UAE 3-0 Bahrain

We will go into the last group match needing a win.

very happy.. 3 points and cleansheet..
the trio of Hosseini,Ando and Nekou showed their vital experience.

Only downside, is the attackers should watch their lines, too many offsides, and the last 20 minutes, we didn't keep possession as much.. there was a moment CQ shouted 'KEEP THE BALL' . I loved that. Possession is key.

                    Come on Iran

1-Shojaei was fantastic when attacking but made a blunder deffensive mistake in the start of the but got lucky. His goal was class no keeper could save it.
2_ Bahrain played well either because they studied us or because they are good. They play way better than the two other teams.
3-It is time to give hajsafi those free kicks.
4-We had many offside goal should be analysed
5-Azmoun is a better option than Gucci these days and I don't know why Jahan Bakhsh does not play well in CQ's System.
                      6- Both goals were beutifull.

IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

Dejagah hogs the ball too much.
