POST-MATCH DISCUSSION | vs. Bahrain - Asian Cup 2015
The highlight of Iran's opening to the Asian Cup, a 2:0 victory over Bahrain, was not anything produced by their players but the fanatical support they generated from an impressive crowd of 17,712 at AAMI Park on Sunday night.
It's hard to argue against the fact he scored the 2-0. He simply delivered.
Baba jan, baradare man, Azize man.. how can you possibly ignore his shit performance for many years and stick to his goal which without it we still would have win it anyway? ? Even in this game that you are trying to make a Messi out of him he had very bad moments too like the blunder today in our own box which could have led to the Bahraini goal.
I and others who criticize Massoud will be the first one to express our support the moment he is consistent.
I was not satisfied by our game. And after this game I have respect for Bahrain. The played good football and Didn't play unfair like other Arab teams against Iran.
I don't understand why shojaei has to play as a starter? There are players like Azmoun, Jahanbakhsh, Rafei who could play and help TM with theire speed. I know that he scored a goal but did u see that he wanted to dribble ((or was ist a horrible pass?) in front of our goal in the first halftime?
I also was a little disappointed by dejagha. He is one of our hopes and we always need him at the top of his power. I had the feeling that he is slow and tired.
Gucci couldn't show much because we didn't create any single chance.
The rest of the team was ok and the two new players were great.
I hope for the second game our boys play a little bit more with speed. And hope Bahrain does beat UAE and Qatar.
1- it was a more-than-expected start. TM clearly has the spirit to fight for every game. just watched Iran-Iraq 2011, Iran-Uzbakistan 2007. undoubtedly we perform much more organized today. Thanks CQ!
2- kokam Masoud (yes I'm from Abadan) did well today esp, in first half but is still too slow. SR 17 can bring more momentum to the center
3- last 10 minutes was a fitness warning. watch again carefully. ( I couldn't find player stats on afcasiancup.com , help me find it )
Gucci really needs to stop being offside and I don't know what was so special about Ashkan today, defo not his usual beast mode.
The 2 new additions were very promising and absolutely well done to CQ for taking the risk on match day 1.
Surprisingly, Shojaei played well (for the standards he's set over the past few years) however I still truly believe we have worthy young blood who should be given the chance to impress instead of him and apart from his brilliant ball to Ash I didn't see anything else (his goal was a complete miss hit).
Uae is starting to scare me albeit the fact that Qassem Burhan had a assfull day in goal, he absolutely reeeed. Ali mabkhout and abdulrahman are bundesliga 2 if not bundesliga quality (mostly mabkhout). Enough with giving them credit... As a doatishe Esteghlali, I wholly wish for a shishtayee against Qatar and a solid 1-0/2-0 against UAE.
Oh and did I say, what a replacement voria is proving to be for Montazeri so far! Mashallah Kurdistan! If ash manages to keep up with him, we could witness a deadly partnership between them, similar to that of him and Riether at Fulham in the good old days
I think once Javad retires it would be safe to move Pouraliganji up in his position, he certainly has the potential to develop into a great midfielder. He impressed as CB but he is naturally a CM and would even be better in that position.
Lot of people few months ago didn't even know who he was, and now he has higher stats than Hosseini in his first real match, starting in the team on his second cap for TM. A real achievement IMO, Good future ahead of him.
