Our winning streak following the World Cup remains intact.
I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

Great effort all around. Fans were spectacular. Loved how Aussie TV tried to find Bahraini fans and could only find this lonely couple in the stands. Definitely no problem finding TM supporters!

Today's performance was good enough for games against teams like Bahrain etc. I don't want to lowball the Bahrainis, but compared to stronger Asian teams like Japan etc. they are not a huge opponent. One could definitely see the result of the low number of friendlies in today's match. The first minutes were really poor, but we started to improve with time.

Tbh, I think only Group D would have been an easier draw for us than our current group. I don't understand why people call it the "group of death" when you compare it with Group A featuring Australia and South Korea. Further, I see Oman and Kuwait on the same level as our Arab opponents. Same for Group B, I'd prefer to play Bahrain, Qatar and UAE to China, Saudi Arabia and North Korea. The reason I'm comparing the groups is that I think we should see the group stage as our "preparation games" because with today's performance we'll definitely not be able to keep pace with Australia or Japan.

Overall, I'm more or less happy with today's performance and result, especially considering our poor preparation. There were a lot of things one can be happy with out of today's game (such as e. g. the performance of the two newcomers as well as some other players), but one thing's sure: we HAVE TO improve in order to achieve an ideal result. The positive thing is that we still have 3 games before facing a really strong opponent (most likely Australia) and I think that if we just improve a little game by game we should be able to win Qatar and UAE and as a result most likely Iraq or Jordan in the quarter-finals. By then, if everything goes according to plan, we can prove ourselves against the Asian giants.

reading the top comments on AC 2015 fb post of the Iran-Bahrain vid is making me LOL especially the comments made by Iranian FB newbs (no pun intended)

This guy is probably Singaporean after I took one glance at his FB but since he looks Asian....Iranians thought he's Japanese and wished him luck for tmrws game . He probably be thinking dafaq iz dis

Really impressed with Ghafouri and Pouraliganji, both of whom i saw for the first time. They both looked super calm and composed.

Ghafouri was running up and down the flank all game long and hardly put a step wrong. Anyone know how old he is ?

Pouraliganji was also almost mistake-free and the kid looks more comfortable on the ball than any Iranian defender i have seen for a long while, perhaps going back as far as Panjali. For those of you who follow IPL, was this a typical performance ?

Any info on these two players would be greatly appreciated !

                    You know what's funny?

If a Japanese/European/South American player had scored Hajsafi's goal, half Bundesliga and La liga teams would be after him. But he is "just" from Iran.

How can we expect scouts to be impressed when a lot of Iranians themselves have the same mind set as you mentioned.

There were a LOT OF positive points to take away from this match, but first off let me start by saying that TM fans (present company included) continue to show that they are one of, if not the best, most fun and passionate fans on the planet.

Reading Babak's comments and having watched a few videos from inside the stadium, took me right back to Brazil and I have to say that the crowd and the chants were so loud by the TM fans inside the stadium that it was almost like being there and I caught myself responding back to Iran chikaresh mikoneh and dooo dooo dooo dooo dooo dooo at home quite a few times!

So, Kudos to all of you guys and all the TM fans out there who believe in this team and great or not, prepared or not, stick by it, cheer for it and always believe in it.

There's a reason a lot of Brazilian and neutrals were cheering for us in the WC, there's a reason there was nothing but praise for TM fans from the commentators, there's a reason my wife who's not Iranian insists on waking up at 4 a.m. to watch TM, and there's a reason CQ has put up with all the IFF BS to stay in Iran and calls us the 12th and most important TM player!

On that note and since everyone in TM played well as a unit, I think the vote for the best player of the match should go to TM fans! Big CONGRATS to all.

TM didn't have a consistent cohesion. Hasty passes or shots wee not exactly what we call quality. But the individual composure and effort was noticeable throughout the game. But at the same time, TM seemed to be holding back as if they never wanted an all out adult on Bahrain.

Although we don't think much of the Arab teams, they still have some talented players. The Bahrain players definitely were more technical than the likes of Qatar. They can be pull an upset in any match. So lets hope that Iran starts to gel better as the tournament moves on.

Very close! I don't think the assistant referee would call it if he had the same view angle as in the photo. But according to the rules it was a correct call.
