Australia gave The Netherlands a very tough this world cup and almost beat them. It says enough.

Japan beat Australia in November. I watched the full game on youtube last month for scouting and the scoreline could have been 4-1 or so for Japan.

It just shows how Korea sucks nowadays and we should face them in SF.

And they are a relatively young team

That game was played in japan, australia is not a good away team. This time it will be a lot different should they meet!

they scored again and had 2 more corner opportunities which the goalkeeper defended well. but overall australia has been playing a much better game then the used to.. they play a nice attractive game but if they face a team with good physical strength all of the sudden it might be much harder for them.

Oman, I think they went into this with a plan to park the bus and they were clueless when they conceded

We should stop overrating Australia. They are getting better but overall Arab teams declined a lot. Every top Asian side except Korea should destroy them by 3-4 goals easily. Iran could have beat Bahrain 3-0 or 4-0 too.

Fact: Arab teams vs non-Arab teams so far - 0 wins 0 draws 7 defeats. They really suck.

                          Australia 4-1 Kuwait
                          South Korea 1-0 Oman
                          China 1-0 Saudi Arabia
                          Iran 2-0 Bahrain
                          Japan 4-0 Palestine
                          South Korea 1-0 Kuwait
                          Australia 4-0 Oman

Kuwait out, Oman out, Palestine out, Qatar to be kicked out by Iran followed by the Saudies

                            This is great

Australia definitely played a GREAT game, but let's face it boys Oman didn't do anything.

They were dazed and confused since the 1st goal, running around the field like chickens with their heads cut-off. It was the same thing with Kuwait. If you're technically inferior, you got to make up for it in other areas, whether it's fitness, physical strength, tactically or even just with lots of HEART.

That's why I was very impressed with Bahrain, because what they lacked in skill or experience, they made up for it with heart, intensity and hard physical play against TM. That's also why a team like New Zealand managed 3 ties in WC2010 with only three or four professional players.

On that note, I think both Kuwait and Oman made Australia look much better than they are by giving them lots of space and letting them control everything about the game. It would be interesting to see how Australia would fair against more disciplined or physical opposition. I guess we'll find out in a few days when they play S. Korea.

They definitely want to finish on top of the group because they want to avoid Japan in the semis, although I think they will have their hands full against TM. This tournament is definitely between Iran, Japan and Australia. I'm completely dropping S. Korea out of the race after this 2nd game and two dismal wins against minnows - they just don't have the firepower.
